Happy World Ocean Day! 🌊|| #art

risograph print illustration of the stages of whale fall, aka the stages in which a whale's corpse decays. The illustration is shapes and contained within the silhouette of an ornate, gothic cathedral window, which each stage being separated from the next by the window's vertical struts.

The top most shows the whale's tail fin alive & in motion, splash along the ocean's surface. The next panel is labeled mobile scavengers stage. The whale begins to sink, mid-sized scavengers--like small sharks and eels--bite at it's flesh and blood comes out in ribbons.

The second stage is labeled enrichment opportunist. The whale's carcass has been chewed partially open, revealing ribs. Crabs, worms, sea stars, and urchins nibble at it. As it descends, the water around it continues to grow darker.

The third stage is labeled sulfophilic stage. The whale has been chewed down to a skeleton, is covered in small crustations, and is a sulfur yellow.

The final stage is labeled reef stage. The whale is now crumbled, scattered pieces of bone. #goals

a "whale fall" is the process in which a whale decays. The sudden over-abundance of nutrients is an event of seismic proportions to deep sea communities. (2/3)

Did you hear about the glass coffin maiden? ✨ my piece for @storyindungeon #dungeonmeshi

ID: Picture is a vibrant, ornate illustration featuring characters from the Delicious in Dungeon anime. The illustration is framed by two leaping animals: a boar, bleeding from a wound in it's side, and a stag with blood-tipped antlers.

Inner scene depicts a ornate stone hallway, framed by an arch, we see Marcille in a pageboy tunic on bended knee, holding the hand of a pleased, luminous Falin, who sits upright in a glass coffin in a white feather dress. The coffin is etched with dragon detailing. Behind Falin stand Laios in armor, looking weary but content, holding a bleeding antler.

The antler thing will really only make sense if you're familiar with the Grimm brother's glass coffin. Anyways a evil wereboar magician locks a maiden in a coffin and turns her brother into a stag. Stag kills boar, wandering hero frees maidan. Everybody lives happily ever after. Except for the wizard, who is dead. /end ID
