I think it's from Arabic! We used to get these all the time when I lived in AZ, it was wild. Could blow out electronics and stuff. Here's one about to blow over my house in 2018.

The night sky above the roof line of some houses; the sky is cloudy and the full (or nearly so) moon is near the center of the frame and illuminates a thick wave of brownish dust rolling over the roofs. The brown dust is clearly distinguishable from the wispy grey clouds behind it.
