From 24–26 June, EHESS Paris hosted the first PHC Proteus workshop on associational life in Southeast Europe. Researchers from France, Greece and Slovenia explored relations between associations, the state and society.

In June, Sara Šifrar Krajnik presented her doctoral research at the ZUG-minisymposium at BOKU University. During her stay in Vienna, she also conducted archival research at the Österreichisches Staatsarchiv, expanding the source base for her dissertation. #INZ #DoctoralResearch #History
Our colleagues Dr Mojca Šorn, Dr Marta Rendla, Dr Andrej Pančur and Tamara Logar attended the presentation of the 72nd issue of Loški razgledi in Škofja Loka. On this occasion, they presented the database of victims of the Second World War and its immediate aftermath.

On 10 June 2026, History on the Edge hosted a lecture by José Luis Aguilar López-Barajas on socialist medical expertise and Cold War knowledge circulation. The talk explored how East-Central European experts shaped international debates in medicine, public health, and the social sciences. #INZ
Dr Ivan Smiljanić presented his paper “Planting Patriotism: Political Memorial Trees in Slovenia from Austria-Hungary to Today” at the Society for Ethnobotany Annual Congress 2026 in Montpellier. The conference explored human–nature relations and brought together scholars from diverse fields. #INZ

Nina Ošep presented her paper Managing Land through Marriage: Family Strategies in Southeastern Alps (Styria), 1800–1900 at the Agricultural History Society Annual Meeting in Atlanta. Her research explored marriage, inheritance, and land management in the nineteenth-century Southeastern Alps. #INZ
On 3 June 2026, History on the Edge hosted a lecture by Denisa Nečasová on the socialist and neoliberal “new man” in Czechoslovakia. Comparing 1948 and 1989, she explored how different political systems shared similar visions of transforming society and the individual. #INZ #HistoryOnTheEdge

In May, INZ hosted the travelling exhibition Portreti branja, organized by Andragoški center Slovenije. The exhibition explores how public spaces can become places for reading, reflection, and community engagement.
