Updated my bullet journal for the day. (Future employers, look how organised I am! Or ‘organized’, if your style guide uses US English. I can be flexible)
Also, hi! I've been on vacation, and am back to work today. Went up to Lake Tahoe with my US citizen spouse (left) and bio family (right). I guess I had Lake Tahoe in my head all this time as "a place rich people go to ski". But you can just rent an Airbnb and laze on the beach too. It's nice 💚
I asked my spouse (huge MCR freak) for their favourite genderqueer and/or transfeminine Gerard Way photos, and:
one time I was in Kansas City, MO, and needed to catch a train in Omaha, NE to continue west to Denver, CO. my options were 1) take a train back up the line towards Chicago and then change for Omaha, ~17 hours total (pink) 2) have my friend drive me three hours to Omaha (blue)
Then there's Matthew Neumann, head of the LGBTQ Foundation of Kansas in Larned, KS. "This law is not legal, and until a judge tells me that it is legal, I'm not going to follow it," he said. He's vowed that his foundation will pay for any fines incurred by trans people who refuse to comply.
The result: confusion, fear, and a scramble for new IDs. One trans woman, Iridescent Roney, had to take the day off work as her spouse drove her hither & yon to various govt offices. "We started about 7:40am, and didn't finish until after 4pm," Iri said. "That's when we realized we hadn't eaten."
This is Jackie, the East Bay's Ultimate Hidden Object Finding Champion 2022 + 2023. Highly intelligent, extremely inquisitive ADHD-ass rescue mutt with a lil dachsund in her & a lot of jack russell terrier. She is well trained by her owner but also v. traumatized, so does not play well with cats
we did used to have one (1) movie theatre on the island, which doubled as a village hall, but then the projectionist died of old age and I guess they couldn't get any other projectionists to move out there enter THE SCREEN MACHINE!!! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_...
love that one of the basic conventional way of saying “my name is” in Spanish is actually an inherent declaration of the validity of chosen names it’s my name because I said so, motherfucker!!!!
SOCIAL PROOF ACCOUNTABILITY MANIFESTING STICKINESS ACCOUNTABILITY SOCIAL PROOF (I am learning Spanish and desire pretend gemstones. thank you for your attention to this matter)
I am beginning to learn Spanish and I am not above spamming you all about it in exchange for pretend gemstones 😇🇪🇸🇲🇽
BREAKING: Trump says he is NOT surging feds to San Francisco due to of “substantial progress” made against crime by Mayor Daniel Lurie… …and due to input from “great people” like Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang + Salesforce boss Mark Benioff. Makes you wonder what lobbying there’s been behind the scenes 👀
We’ve finally reached the terminus. Masses of people spreading out through Civic Center Plaza and UN Plaza. Here’s Christine U’Ren, a 59-year-old graphic designer from Berkeley, adding a data point to my “1776 is becoming left-coded” theory.
Wow. Hard to tell from here, but it LOOKS like the tail end of the march is still bunched up at the Ferry Building. For context, I’m about 0.7 miles away and the front of the match passed here AT LEAST 30 mins ago.
No idea of crowd size, but it seems… big. I’m watching it pass from up on a plinth with a statue of some pioneer guy and it just keeps going and going and going.
No Kings 2 begins marching in San Francisco, preceded by a police escort and a man blowing a bugle. The protesters are walking from the Ferry Building down Market St, headed for city hall.
Interesting: the Democratic fundraising giant MoveOn has brought out celebrity big guns to endorse No Kings 2. They've got John Legend, Jane Fonda, and Kerry Washington urging supporters to attend and protest non-violently. No such message for No Kings 1!
Kind of obsessed with this extremely relatable contemporary review of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, published in the wake of the French Revolutionary Wars “There never was a wilder story imagined, yet… the real events of the world have, in our day, too, been of so wondrous and gigantic a kind”
