Reflecting upon the numerous family members who travelled on the SS Madonna between 1910-1920, leaving their farms & extended families behind, all for the promise of something different and perhaps something better. Trying to hold tight to the belief in the potential of what WE can be.

I went to Trader Joe’s after acupuncture and my impulse buy was a bunch of peonies—my favorite. And it is my acupuncturist’s favorite too, so I divided everything up into 2 bouquets.

At 2 hours 41 minutes i am defeated. I added the mix ins, packaged them up (2 pints each flavor) and returned them to the snowy mound to further solidify without my involvement.

Sparking joy today: It is 20F outside, and with the bounty of snow, I decided today is a perfect day to attempt hand churning my first ever batch of ice cream, outside, in the cold. Taking my time warming my hands in between whisking the vanilla-coconut base for what I hope will become rum raisin.

Stainless steel bowl filled with lactose free moo juice, some leftover coconut milk & sweet condensed coconut milk & vanilla bean paste and a balloon whisk nestled into a larger steel bowl filled with snow and salt. My first attempt at making home made ice cream without a churn or electric ice cream maker. Both bowls are atop a black table with a woven motif.

Two loaves of puffy, well browned potato bread with three puffy bumps for each loaf.

In my final household re-org project before 12/31/25, I am purging out a lot of items that no longer serve me. I’m purging out a drawer of Rx meds I stopped taking & forgot about. Xanax, Wellbutrin, Viibryd, Trintellix, Eliquis. Pretty brutal evidence that the last 6 years have been for me.

Bought the yarn last Tuesday while in Barbados. I should have it finished tomorrow sometime, then will block the hell out of it, killing the stitches & making the yarn more soft & drapey. #crochet 🧶

Baby blanket folded in fourths. Blanket is worked in pale pink and taupe acrylic yarn. Crocheted using Tunisian simple stitch, technique employed is entrelac.

Same, we have a bunch of fakes indoors too. This spring I have high hopes to break my losing streak. Here is my set up thus far for my balcony gardening for the spring.

Very relatable! I have never had much luck with anything else. Here is my jade I propagated from a cutting in 2011. This is the year I am learning more about fertilizers & soil ph. I got 2 fig trees this summer & have managed not to kill them (yet).
