Third-culture kid. Car enthusiast except for LS swaps. My mind is held together by garden dirt & JS Bach. Once and future dog owner. Poet. Words: Don't blame me; I voted against Leopards Eating People's Faces.
Did a bit of a double-take there, thought that was my cat for a second!
Wisconsin governor's race is going to be lit. DSA candidate Francesca Hong is likely to basically get Tiffany elected, given how this state works, so that's great. I'm already sick of Tiffany's down-home schtick, never mind his rabid Trump bootlicking.
My greatest accomplishment as a mother might be that I made a Hobbes for my kid (TBH, I think she learned to read from Calvin and Hobbes, she read them that much.) I do not have a photo of the green w/ white polka-dot pajama set I made her to match the ones Calvin wears in some of the strips.
When my kid was 8 years old and into volcanoes, I made her a stuffed volcano. This was my second-greatest accomplishment as a mother.
Sleeping off a hard day's night with the best of them.
"When Elon Musk, who raised some $300mil for Trump’s campaign, blasts the President over his budget bill, Trump says, “They always leave me. They always do this. This is why I can’t have friends.” [...] He calls Musk twice. Both times, he gets voice mail." www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...
This is Whitsun, adopted last November. She's named for the old name of the church festival of Pentecost, because she's got a little white flame marking on her nose. For six weeks, she wouldn't let us touch her. And then one day around the turn of the year, she decided we were safe.
Guise. Omigosh. Look. Six months ago, this shelter girl would barely let me touch her. 🥹
Someone got out again yesterday. Waltzed back into the house at dinner time like she hadn't been gone for three hours.
Whitsun got outside for the first time. I am occasionally spotting her in the corners and edges of the yard so I think she will probably come back in eventually (door is propped open & some of her litter is in a pan near the back door) but I'm FREAKED OUT. OMIGOSH, please don't get lost, Whitsun.
I thought eating a ham sandwich would fix my problems, but then I read the label, and sadly, it only
Mr President, you cannot scare people who dress like this on purpose.
Making some progress finding actually realistic European-style (that is, small and unfussy) bathrooms. Not sure I'd pick black tile, but combining the shower room with a modest soaking tub is an idea I like.
