I find it difficult to believe that 90% of grocery shoppers can’t tell the difference between parsley (i.e., flat-leaf Italian parsley) and cilantro (sometimes called Coriander or Chinese parsley). I can tell the difference in less than a second. How about you? 🌿
Oh-oh… things are heating up over the next few days. Current humidity is 68%. Not too bad.
I’m hanging in there… researching possibile overseas trip at some point. On Wed., I was out to dinner at my favorite Persian restaurant and had my fave dish, Khoresh bademjan, a Persian stew w/ lamb shank and eggplant. I’m always eating, so cooking factors in the mix. Lately, food things…
It might be that my home isn’t nearly as neat and clean as yours. I did once have a visitor ask me if I’ve always been so “tidy”, so I do OK. I do have a bowl of lemons on my dining room table (bowl made by my daughter) to add a nice citrusy fragrance to the air. It keeps my chess set company. 😉
FIFA continually falls short in so many ways. The mainstream media continues to be lame. FIFA President Gianni Infantino should be ashamed of himself for creating and presenting a so-called “peace prize” to Trump for his “tireless efforts to bring people together in a spirit of peace”. 🤦🏻♂️⬇️
It was knife sharpening day… these are the 4 knives I use the most in the kitchen… Chinese cleaver, chef’s knife, boning knife, and utility knife. I’ve had the cleaver for 50+ yrs, and don’t usually let anybody else use it — to avoid accidents. I’ve had the Wusthof chef and utility knives 40+ yrs.
Geez… that L 82° says it all.🤦🏻♂️ I hate those Extreme Heat Warnings. 🥵 Fortunately, I have no complaints where I am…
All the beautiful things in life… ever wonder where they all go when we’re all done?
I made some Singapore style noodles last night, and had leftovers. I added some sautéed wild Mexican prawns to them w/ a sauce of butter, olive oil, minced garlic, white wine, cilantro, and light cream. That’s dinner. 🍜😋
Still kind of warm today, but getting back to a tolerable weather range.
I’m just being gluttonous… went by my local fish market and couldn’t resist the Alaskan King Crab legs, so that’s what’s for dinner. 😋🦀
Nice chess set! I didn’t know you played chess. I play almost every day, mostly online but also some over the board. I belong to a chess club but don’t attend much lately. I’m following the elite chess tournament taking place right now — Norway Chess. Here’s one of my boards at home.
11 years ago today, I was at the Seven Gables Inn, Pacific Grove/ Monterey Bay Area… staying in a room with a view…
I saw this earlier today on IG… a hopeful return by soulful singer-songwriter Duffy.
I’ve generally liked Sandra Bullock, but she never registered as “hottest woman alive” for me. Good actress, though. Speaking of frizzy hair, I’d put Helena Bonham Carter pretty near the top of my “hottest woman alive”, then and now. She was only 20 when “A Room with a View” came out. Recent photo:
King crab is what would call “messy good”… requiring some deft finger work and kitchen shears to get at all that goodness. The reward is a sweet, succulent delicacy that satisfies a deep gastronomic craving. 🦀😋
I’ve been craving Alaskan King crab lately, so tonight’s the night. Simple, melted butter w/ minced garlic, lemon zest, a pinch of Old Bay seasoning, and fresh chopped cilantro. I’m also making linguine w/ Bolognese sauce. 🍜😋
Email received today from the CA Secretary of State that election ballots have been sent out. Further, my USPS tracking tells me that my ballot should be delivered this afternoon. 🗳️
Not that Cherie DeVaux wasn’t happy (and humble) to be a participant and having her first #KentuckyDerby starter in #GoldenTempo, but I don’t think even she could have anticipated the sheer ecstasy of becoming the first-ever female trainer to win the Kentucky Derby in its 152-year history. 🙌🙌🙌
It’s time… to VOTE!🗳️ I like that I’m getting alerts via text and email on the status of my ballot here in California.
I went out to dinner and hadn’t had prime rib in a while, so that’s what had tonight. 😋
I thought about you last night, Kat, specifically related to the fires in GA. Reminds me of CA from previous years. 🙏🙏🙏
I was in 5th grade when I read “Vandals of the Void”, my first SciFi book. Not sure why I remember these things. It might be due to what Jamie Ding @feathersmcg.bsky.social mentioned in tonight’s Jeopardy show — a “sticky mind”. Anybody else remember their first science fiction read?
I’m just going to leave this here for your quick assessment. I mean, even though RFK Jr. has won the DOY Award (“Doofus of the Year”), he at least deserves credit for sounding confident in his doofus-ness. 😆
100 yrs ago, eh? 😆 I actually have two copies, the hardback (1st edition) and the ARC pre-publication copy (I was a book club moderator for many years, so once in a while I’d get ARC copies). Both signed.
