i am a juris doctor holding career public policy expert esp. in public sector delegated governance but i am otherwise a good ol' 'berta boy (communist) he/him or they/them is fine too jackspeyside.neocities.org
an idea i am v interested in is "what does an antifascist call of duty look like"? a first person shooter is pretty simple from a game design and coding perspective, but involves alot of work modeling/animating, so i am putting in reps in blender when work is slow. "high poly" player weapon.
this is true and my theory is that the twitter/tumblr test is whether or not you can talk directly to your reps (you can on twitter, vs here, a tumblr, where they just post or cross-post, but don't actually use the site).
i think more management simulation video games should call you evil for playing them. that's my mission really.
learning blender. a challenge in low-poly/low-res texture editing is keeping the pixels about the same size on different UVs (and knowing when not to). models made in Blender, 256x256 textures in GIMP, in-game shot captured in Godot. model, texture, code all 100% handmade by me, "jack speyside"
the main problem in contemporary politics is the furthest right 33% of people are 66% of the right wing party's base in a 2 party system. but really i blame that other 34% of the centre right who caucus with the extremists for short term electoral gains.
i missed the starfox discourse, i think starfox looks wrong? idk anything about it. but this is genius. Topgun was released in 1986, how has it taken this long for a mainstream arcade flight sim to do 2-seat cockpit co-op?
lmaooooo this man. this tortured 29 year old millionaire. i know in my heart, god is an oilers hater
The UCP wants to make cities more competitive for them by intermingling the competitive urban and suburban voters with the rural voters that they have a surplus of. For example the map below is what their boundaries committee minority report wants for Calgary - big rural areas added to YCC ridings.
For example american states divide their ridings into roughly equal numbers of people, but they aren't representative - they splice in or cut out geographic areas to water down the vote in favour of one candidate or another (mainly the Republican candidate).
two way tie, baseball gorilla and chubby godzilla, from the design document
kessen 2 is one of the great video games simply because nothing else has this much of a point of view.
holy shit doing research for a post on character design and the aesthetics of fascism and, look the military is (sometimes) good actually and we owe (some of) them an apology.
world generation almost done in my uber-timely cuban revolution simulator. fixed some issues with the roads' pathfinding where two paths run parallel but opposite; put checkpoint dungeons on non-parallel intersection hexes.
this is the process map - you can see that there are alot of avenues to just skip phase 2 recruitment and move directly to phase 3, making appointments. if you like to make access to information inquiries and write news stories about the results, this is mb a timely one to consider
danielle and the ucp in particular have slid backwards on this. public appointments under the PCs were "open, transparent, and competency-based". these words "open and transparent" have disappeared from AB's recruitment material - compare this 2017 ad to the current process, which is neither.
each province has at least 3 dungeons - a capital, an airfield, and a military centre. i divide the world into quadrants and populate each with a province's dungeons. then we draws roads connecting them. roads are important because water is impassible, so some maps might be unplayable w/o bridges.
just did these quick but the vibes are spot on, especially happy with the mountain hex. this uses a fractal noise map that sets low values as water, medium values as plains, then high values as forest and mountains. next we'll make a func to go around the edges and apply water to make it an island.
the dungeon is played in a turn-based tactical rpg style, but the over-world is played as a hex crawl. i've been working on learning the coding by building this basic 4X game that i'll strip for parts. these graphics and this UI are all just place holders.
finished roughing out the player team's movement animation. we are going for a real "metal gear on MSX" vibe. the prone animations are for hiding in tall grass, so i deliberately cut back the mid tones and eliminated highlights.
dead hollywood theory. zombie hollywood theory. why have you never even heard of the top grossing movie of last year? why are the high grossing western movies mostly cynical cash grabs?
will never get over calling get parent, remove child. sounds fucked up.
