Started doing my own colours more out of necessity than anything a few years ago can’t say that I enjoy it but I have got the hang of it. Still no intention of ever trying to use lens flare or other effects I much prefer flat basic colours as I am quite ink heavy.
Tidying the workspace to make room for a new magnifying lamp and I found these two well worn treasures the Batman one is barely holding together but it’s still amazing.
Quality advertising at Tannadice last night ( may only work for Scottish folk)
If nothing else it features stylised versions of @fraserc69.bsky.social vaping and me … eating Tayto’s
Years ago I did a couple of sketch a day Alex Automatic things this one was never collected and features some ill advised hand lettering by me Here is a link to it all although you cannot blame Fraser for it he was just kind enough to indulge my footerings. www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/rmk6u...
Been posting a lot of old stuff as I haven’t had much time for new comics but here is proof of life of new Stramash and yes I need reference to draw my own characters sometimes.
This is the voice….. an old Captain Black sketch well let’s face it the Earthmen started it.
Nice post day courtesy of @thirdbearpress.bsky.social the rather lovely looking new book from Bruna Martini
Black 3/3 I included the Helldrivers poster in the first panel as it was in telly at the time of drawing.
Black 2/3 I abandoned it as well they were not really my toys to play with.
Black 1/3 this was an abandoned sketch a day thing based on someone who may or may not be Captain Black breaking his Mysterion control to save a family member. Various other sort of familiar looking people and vehicles show up. My phone tells me it’s 3 years old.
“Sapphire and Steel have been assigned” Not really great at likenesses so I didn’t try. Having seen Bulk earlier in the year I am more convinced that ITV or whoever should throw money at Ben Wheatley to make a new version
I am celebrating Small Press Comic day like many of you by staying at home to meet a deadline. My nonsense can be found here if you like weird crime stuff with scratchy inks and limited colour palettes. jamescorcoran.bigcartel.com
More old nonsense from last year I was bored one lunch break and drew a bunch of Steve Austin’s I think originally I planned to just draw one and draw the accessories etc to put over it. I drew an astronaut Steve and for some reason roller derby Steve too
More old childhood favourites from British comics. For the uninitiated Deathwish, Black Max, Johnny Red and Hotshot Hamish. War and Football based strips were very popular
Stramash 63’ issue 2 and 3 not forgotten I have just had to juggle non comics drawing work and a few other things it’s happening in the background if slowly.
Superskrull which I drew ages ago but don’t remember colouring so I used it to warm up with as colour does not come naturally to me so have to have to play around a bit before starting pages.
I forgot this wee fella in the last post and now he’s a bit mad at me. I was drawing my way through the masterworks last year but I skipped a few I might pick it up again as I love the early 60’s Marvel look
Working on a book cover tonight and since starting to wear glasses I find myself switching between the magnifying lamp and glasses and don’t realise that I am sometimes doing both.
Today’s warm up is Cyclops not sure why as at the risk of upsetting quite a few of you I have never really liked him.
This evenings train footerings the rather dapper sad Mod is my favourite
