Native Cincinnatian, Lifelong Liberal Catholic, Beatles Lover, Baseball Lover. Absolutely love being a Grandpa.
Just to brighten things up for folks, this news article from 1960. My Grandma greeting JFK in Cincinnati, telling everyone what she thought of Nixon. I come from good roots.
Look what DJT sent me. Although I suspect it's not really from him because he didn't thank me for my attention to this matter.
I was 21 years old and we continued the celebration the next day with this incredible concert at Cincinnati's Riverfront Stadium seeing the band leader Benny Goodman and the wonderful Roberta Flack
@feloniousmunk.blacksky.app came across this on the Mill Creek Greenway running through the heart of Cincinnati (near where A grew up). Representing!
Happy 83rd Birthday to Fr Richard Rohr. He’s second from left in the middle row. I’m two down to the right. This retreat in 1971 changed my life.
Immediately reminded me of the lead character in Netflix’s Seven Dials which we started watching yesterday.
Well look what showed up on time for the first time in 10 weeks! And showed up at all in a month. @nytimes.com
That time Bruce ran an ad - from the Asbury Park Press, February 20, 1971. #Springsteen #HistoryInRealTime
@satbshow.bsky.social Reading your latest newsletter. The Moody Blues were my 1st concert at the Cincinnati Gardens in Sep 1970 (Beatles there in '64). Van Morrison opened. This photo is from the show. A now forgotten classmate took it for my review in the school newspaper.
After I looked it up, it reminded me of a news story I found from 1874 about my g/g grandpa who gave a speech on a street corner said to be a "ripper." The writer wrote: "...Mr. Forbes flatters himself that with a little practice, he could knock the birds off the bushes, in an oratorical way."
I agree with all of these. Everyone should watch Sneakers. Every actor listed was nominated for an Oscar at some point in their career. Fun movie.
@satbshow.bsky.social Saw these at #WorldsLongestYardSale in Union KY $350 in the lunchbox, $35 on MMT booklet. Nice. #BeaTles
It’s always fun what you can find in old newspapers. This is a 1936 ad for a dance at a long ago Cincinnati hotel featuring “Andy Donnellon and His Entertainers.” That’s my grandpa.
