In Wisconsin, a first-offense OWI is generally a civil offense, not a criminal charge. The citation typically carries a fine ranging from $150 to $300.

No filters, but the photos don’t do it justice. That line of bright pink was absolutely stunning, and the clouds in the distance were in such interesting formations that they really added to it!

Another sunrise pic, from a little closer to the lake and on the same level as the lake rather than taken from above. You can see hot pink just barely jutting out over and behind the trees, and on the left side of the photo you can see an interesting cloud formation from bottom to top (just above the pink.) Not a car to be seen on Lakeshore.

Welp, at least last night/this morning’s insomnia led to me getting out to enjoy my first Lake Michigan sunrise in I don’t even know how long?

I went out to watch the final at a wonderful Mexican food truck park on the south side of Milwaukee. I don’t have strong feelings on Spain or Argentina but did come up with just enough Spanish to talk to a new friend about how embarrassing France was yesterday. ⚽️

First day back at work after vacation. Still partially on Reykjavik time. Apartment is hot as fuck. Discovered not one, but two wasps in my apartment during my 9:00 AM meeting. Ran to the coffee shop for reprive and spilled water all over the bottom of my bag. I miss Iceland. Have some puffins!

Bobcat kittens are even cuter than full crown bobcats and I am having a major moment of “If not friend, why friend shaped?” 🥹

An adorable bobcat kitten who could almost be a tabby Maine Coon kitten, except larger, being held by someone wearing light blue scrubs and royal blue nitrile gloves. This tweet of mine ended up in Mother Jones after Dobbs. 💀 I was a college student in 2005 and no one cared what I thought about Supreme Court nominations (which is still mostly true, despite the conlaw/civil rights background I have now), but I remain sorry nonetheless.

So anyway, when I got Bubbles back after her surgery, she REALLY became my baby. The poor kitten was so confused, had just had 2 major surgeries, and suddenly her sisters were gone. I kept her in my bedroom to keep an eye on her and she screamed every time I left. (She def got that Siamese yowl.)

I had originally arranged for a friend of a friend to adopt Bubbles, which I was excited about, because she was cool and promised me lots of updates, etc. But by the time it fell through, I was a little relieved, because I wanted to keep her for myself. 🥰

As you can partially see in the last photo I posted, Barry was also in love with Bubbles. He also adored her sisters. Barry LOVES babies. It’s the sweetest thing. If I even watch kitten videos on my phone, he comes running when he hears the little squeaky mews. “Do you have babies for me?!”

When she got fixed, the vet also amputated to her small arm, because kitties like her often get injured. The shelter asked if I could keep her for a few weeks after the surgeries; I’d be able to keep a better eye on how she was acting where she was already comfortable. Yes! I was already in love.
