The Guardian headline this morning reads "Maine votes as scandal-plagued Graham Platner seeks Democratic Senate primary win."

"Irritable" is correct, and applies to mail-in voting also. And if you can't go in person to prove that the illegible, non-matching cursive signature (the one they have on file) is yours, your vote won't be counted. Has anyone taken the SAT recently?

FYI, if you can afford it, "anyone may purchase the $250 Non-Resident Annual Pass but it is intended for non-residents." It doesn't have an ugly Rump mug on it! Do NOT buy the digital version, however (buy at a park instead), realize that you must also show a photo ID, and never show it to ICE...
