This has been sitting on my TBR pile for about 5 years, so glad I picked it up today. It’s in conversation with so many writers I’ve been reading this years and it’s one of the most thought-provoking books I’ve read in ages. Hard recommend from me.

It’s my 10th Hilary Mantel and one of my all time favourite writer memoirs. Such a wide ranging, dark and frisky read which manages to feel both brutally realist and larger than life #MyYearWithHM
So very lucky to have had the absolute best cohort of lovely writers to learn with all week at the Stinging Fly summer school. There were great chats, brilliant stories and a fair few attack pigeons. Utterly exhausted but would do it all again next week of if I could.

Such a gorgeous (and very sweaty) morning wandering about down by Leeds docks where I got the warmest welcome (and a tiny little succulent) from the lovely folks @holdfastleeds This was my first experience of a bookshop boat and I’d thoroughly recommend if you’re in Leeds.
