I adopted another 10 yr old Chihuahua mix about 3 weeks ago.I have a soft spot for old Chi's. Took her to the vet & it turns out she needed surgery for mammary tumors. She had 4 removed yesterday.I don't know if I'll have her for a few months or years but she's the happiest girl.Daisy! 💕 #chihuahuas
I see the US National Straw Sculpture competition is coming up again in August at Mt Morris, IL. I attended a few yrs ago and took this photo of King Kong. So many great sculptures and impressive work.
Chloe is the coolest cat in front of the fan on a hot afternoon. Time for a snooze. 😴
More critters emerging with the seasonal southwest rains. This is a baby alligator lizard that was on our door to get out of the heavy rain. I haven't seen an adult, which can grow to a ft long. It was released to a damp but safe location in the yard. #lizards #newmexico #alligatorlizardsintheair
Found a small pink Walking Stick outside. I've seen dark brown versions in eastern US and straw colored Walking Sticks in the southwest. Maybe pink is a mutation? #insects #walkingsticks
Love the green forest and the shadows! I took a similar type of photo with my son on a trail near Olympic National Forest.
My backyard Nipple Cactus (Mammillaria Magnimamma) is in full bloom, sporting a crown of beautiful magenta flowers. It's about the size of a softball. #cactus #flowerhour
I refilled a hummer feeder at dawn while camping at a state park in northern New Mexico. The hummingbirds were used to campers hanging up feeders and didn't even wait for me to hang it on it's hook. #birds #hummingbirds
The first male Rufous Hummingbirds (early migrants) showed up today. Beautiful little bullies. The battles for supremacy at the feeders with the more local black throated hummers are about to get intense. #birds #hummingbirds
I hardly see Monarch butterflies now. Maybe I'm not in the best part of the country to see them. I know their numbers have dropped drastically. This one stopped by my chair so I was able to get a closeup. #butterflies
My dog Bea only had one toy she ever loved. It was a little stuffed monkey. When I realized that it was the only toy she wanted, I went back to the store to get another in case the first one wore out. So cute!
Reminds me of a photo I took of a car parked next to me. A woman holding a lizard in a Santa coat!
I didn't know about this either. I'm fascinated by tree trunks, including knobby ones! Here's one I took when traveling along the Oregon coast. #thicktrunkthursday
Now Hamlet has joined Chloe for a long nap. Hopefully I'll get the bed made before bedtime.
I chose to live in the arid southwest of the US but sometimes I miss the green greens of spring in other parts of the country.
I've saved 2 baby Walking Sticks that were in the house over the past 24 hours. My good deed for the day.
Heartbreaking day. Nessie went over the Rainbow Bridge due to kidney failure. I only had her for 5 months, but she was about 10 yrs old. She blended into "the pack" so seamlessly and I miss her. Bye, sweet Ness, we had a wonderful 5 months. Wish it had been longer. 💔
This curious squirrel wanted a better view of its world. I hoped there were no hawks around. #squirrels
