Highlights of #STLV today were seeing @mikemcmahan.bsky.social react to @tracey.science and @fennecuskitsune.bsky.social’s Dr. T’ana and Dr. Migleemo cosplay photos. The cosplay contest, so much talent! Watching @tracey.science win the contest with @cmdrnyce.bsky.social in Geordi Bear, and buns!
Amazing thing we just noticed: our earthquake app shows Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket explosion being detected as a 2.5, DAMN.
Last Friday LA1 and us were at the Los Angeles “INFERNO SESSION”, where Boards of Canada debuted their newest album, “Inferno”, in full, at an exclusive event. It was life-changing. The album is nothing short of a masterpiece, their best one yet. We can’t wait for it to be out this Friday.
This is our first time watching four astronauts sit inside 3500F with our own eyes. It was stunning, and the sonic boom was deep, flexed windows, and activated our lizard brain “scary” response. Welcome home Crew-11!
Whenever anyone talks to us about work and efficiency and what we, as a worker, should be doing:
We’re one of the cool kids now and have joined as a science officer aboard the crew of NCC-1103, the @usssequoia.bsky.social! Looking forward to many more events with The Fleet in the future!
Spent our weekend attending our first furry con since The Before Times: Another Furry Con in Ontario, CA, and brought our telescope out to join the Furry Astronomy star party on Saturday night, which over 500 people looked through our telescope alone! We stayed on Saturn all night long.
The 3.5 earthquake in Rialto that happened 15 minutes ago has been detected on the seismograph here at Griffith Observatory.
Me…me when your girl—no…you…you when your girl, when your, when your girl see—when your girl sees me when I’m like…when I’m like shirtless…s—soa—soaked…s—soaking wet…
A complete non-issue except for the local area. This map is the best we’ve seen so far, but it’s still actually not wide enough to show all of the actual city of Los Angeles. More concerned about National Guard and Marines deployed: in our eyes that’s an invasion, through and through.
Overall view of the seismograph. We’ll see if it settles at 7.6, magnitudes tend to bounce around a bit as more data comes down the pipeline.
Saw there was an 7.6 earthquake just now near the Cayman Islands and we ran down to our seismograph at Griffith Observatory to see our detection in real-time. Note: we’re 4000km [2480mi] away from the epicenter.
At Star Trek San Francisco with @fennecuskitsune.bsky.social @tracey.science this weekend! Say hello if you’re here!
