On June 19, 2019, I cast my proudest vote of my 10-year career in the legislature. We codified the right to safe, legal abortion in Rhode Island law -- three years (almost to the day) before the Dobbs decision overturned Roe v. Wade. 1/

Proud to earn the RI Coalition Against Gun Violence's endorsement because it's built on my record of delivering results. Together we've passed landmark gun safety laws banning dangerous firearms, strengthening firearm licensing, and making it harder for illegal guns to end up in the wrong hands.

I'm honored to earn the endorsement of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence. I've spent the last decade delivering results: banning ghost guns, bump stocks, large-capacity magazines, and assault-style rifles, strengthening firearm laws, and cracking down on illegal gun trafficking. 1/

But our work isn't finished. As Attorney General, I'll use every tool available to defend the constitutional rights of every Rhode Islander, hold those who abuse their power accountable, and ensure that justice is administered fairly—regardless of where someone was born or what language they speak.

This progress is the result of years of organizing and advocacy. I'm deeply grateful to organizations like AMOR, DARE, the Rhode Island Immigrant Coalition, Progreso Latino, the ACLU, and so many others who fought tirelessly to make these protections a reality.

These new laws help ensure that people can access our courts, exercise their right to vote, and defend their constitutional rights without fear. They also close loopholes that have unfairly exposed people to devastating immigration consequences for low-level misdemeanor offenses.

Honored to stand alongside my House and Senate colleagues at Dorcas International Institute as the Governor signed four landmark bills to strengthen protections for Rhode Island's immigrant communities. 1/

That protects the integrity of investigations, strengthens legitimate prosecutions, and helps prevent wrongful convictions. As Attorney General, I'll always fight for a justice system that's fair, accountable, and built on evidence—not politics.

A justice system worthy of the public's trust depends on objective, scientific evidence. That's why it's essential that our crime lab remain independent, held to rigorous national standards & insulated from prosecutorial influence. 2/

Yet again in Texas and Maine, ICE is acting with impunity and recklessness as judge, jury and executioner. This is an outrage. When I am Attorney General, Rhode Island will not cooperate with this deeply racist, immoral organization in any way, shape or form.

Rhode Island's new Assault Weapons Ban went into effect one hour ago, as the clock struck midnight on the end of Gun Violence Awareness Month. Throughout my career in the legislature I've fought hard to improve our #GunSafety laws, and I'm so proud of this signature accomplishment.

Had a lot of fun at Newport Pride to round out Pride Month. Enjoyed connecting with some organizations doing great work - like RICARES, the Newport Democrats, League of Women Voters, Newport County Prevention Coalition, as well as @AMORRI.org and the folks behind the Deportation Defense Hotline.
