Question. Is it safer to be working in Houston than Baltimore today? No, because Maryland has a workplace heat standard. Houston has nothing, thanks to Governor Abbott and the Texas state legislature. Maryland employers are required to provide water, shade & rest. Not so in Texas.

In which city are outdoor workers in the most danger from heat? If you said Baltimore, you'd be wrong. Maryland has an #OSHA heat standard to protect workers. Texas has no standards (and the state prohibits locality from passing local ordinances protecting workers from heat -- as does Florida.)
