Returned to the Castro to see a 40th anniversary screening of Return to Oz with Walter Murch in person. A wonderful night presented by Movies for Maniacs.
Visited The Trees of Mystery on the Oregon Coast. Way above expectations-a stunning skylift, a walking trail up and in the trees, and the vintage Paul Bunyon Tall Tale Trail.
There is more to it than the fairy tale trail that one travels through first but that section is tops.
Finally made it to The Enchanted Forest in Salem, Oregon. Pretty amazing!
Been sorting through lots of old papers and ephemera and was surprised by these ticket books.
Sadly this seems to have been sold. I walked by it for weeks on my way to work. Thought about purchasing but the joy it brought me each morning was way more priceless.
So glad I ventured south to see The Man in the Tuskhut at the Velaslavasay Panorama. It was amazing & a little disturbing. I want my pals to check it out so I can talk about more. Hard to do so publicly without spoiling some of the magic. Thanks to @jwoliner.bsky.social & @ericnot.bsky.social
Met this lovable beast at Mystic Falls Park at Sam’s Town in Vegas.
Had a brief stop at the Hoover Dam Lodge and Casino and was charmed by its interior featuring local art, historic displays, themed restaurants, and lots of slots.
Had the good fortune to visit The Freak Family traveling trailer in Oakland yesterday. A wondrous experience and a treat for this lover of animatronics.
What started as a Sara Velas lecture on Panorama history eventually veered into a brief discussion about The Man in the Tuskhut. I hope to one day visit this mysterious man.
The Haunt closes after tonight 11/1, so you can still catch it if you’re in the Bay Area.
