I appreciate the fact that Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt is trying to position himself as the responsible adult in the room who’s completely aware of the gravity of this situation. But on the other hand, he’s also completely full of ooh-ooh, as my wife likes to say.
Looking forward to talking baseball and introducing pal and NYT bestselling author @bytimbrown.bsky.social tonight (6:30) on his book, “Nolan” about HOFer Nolan Ryan at Gwinnett Public Library-Collins Hill. (455 Camp Perrin Rd NE, Lawrenceville). BTW: Ryan almost became a Brave.
This isn’t normally a time for a season ticket drive but what a time for the Hawks to run a campaign, “Who are the last two teams to beat the Knicks? That would be us. And us!”
Steven Ginsberg, editor of @theathletic.com, said “new questions” arose during investigation, which is why he backed off. I call bullshit on that. It’s more likely his NYT bosses were pissed about his rush to defend Dianna Russini.
Auriemma has apologized. OK. But he made no reference to Dawn Staley. Not good enough.
Words mean nothing without action, especially in matters of sobriety. Tiger Woods has uttered similar words before. We have no way of knowing if the needed surrender and action will actually follow. Even he can’t really know.
Very interested to see how many fans bite on the $20 a month/$100 a year for Braves channel. It’s a supply/demand business and many are already fed up with rising streaming costs … and rising everything else costs.
Statement from (I'm guessing) future network broadcaster Mike Tomlin.
The Falcons have interviewed John Harbaugh for their head coaching vacancy. Does that guarantee he will get/take the job? No. But given reports that he would only talk to a few teams, it's something.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is charging in case you want to read their story on shutting down. They’re going to fight to the final bell.
My opinion: Ole Miss should've let the players decide whether Lane Kiffin would coach them in the playoffs. They were denied.
Is it going to get better this season? Doubtful. And this from @joshkendall.bsky.social: "Atlanta’s offensive vision hasn’t come into focus, and it might not survive the season" Michael Penix frustrated and abruptly ended his press conference after game. www.nytimes.com/athletic/679...
Braves naming Walt Weiss as Brian Snitker’s replacement. Smart baseball guy and good dude. A little surprised GM Alex Anthopoulos didn’t go outside the organization but I have no problem with this hire.
