The Bumblebees are really loving the Cornflowers at the moment. These are Cornflower "Polka Dot Mixed" Same properties as the native one but a bit shorter and in shades from palest pink to deep purple 😊🐝 Approx. 200 seeds for £2.25 #MHHSBD #Wildlife #Pollinators www.jemimasgarden.co.uk

The Meadowsweet is looking particularly fine and flouncy this year 🤍 I've just come in from the garden and this little Bumblebee has dozed off in the middle of it, (sorry for the rubbish photo). Surely you're guaranteed sweet dreams if you fall asleep on a bed of Meadowsweet 😊 #MHHSBD

I managed to last a couple of hours in the garden this afternoon under a shade umbrella. The Robin came by for some suet sticks and it looks like they've started their moult as they're without a tail. Our resident male Blackbird came and sat next to me for a sunbathe, (and sultanas)😊 #MHHSBD #Birds

If you're using Microsoft 365 I don't think you'll even be able to use it to open YOUR files. Absolutely terrible lack of customer care from Microsoft. I'm going to be buying a copy of Office 2021 which apparently will still work after October. Wish me luck 😊 #MHHSBD

Just a heads up to anyone that uses Publisher. Did you know that Microsoft are dropping it in October. Gone never to be seen again. I've used Publisher for years for producing most of my documents including over 200 seed packets. (I tried to convert to PDF and use another program, but 👎). #MHHSBD

This is a large Comfrey plant.
I like to gather seeds from plants when they are ripe and ready to drop.
Comfrey seeds seem to get ripe in ones and twos and don't stay in their "pods" but drop off, never to be seen again.
This is my solution. Little organza bags over each ripening stem.

It took me a little while to notice this pretty Bug, (possibly a Potato Capsid Bug - Closterotomus norwegicus), as it blended in so well with my Woad plant 💚 Do they know what colour they are and choose a plant that camouflages them? 🤔🫠 Very welcome in our garden 😊 #MHHSBD #Garden #Insects #Machars

The Collared Dove saga is finished thankfully 😊 They both fledged on Wednesday and we didn't see them until yesterday, (Friday), when we saw this one in our neighbours' tree with the adults. We have no reason to think the other one isn't doing well too, so happy ending 😊 #MHHSBD

Dove drama! (OK now 😊)🧵 Looking out of my bedroom window, first thing Sunday morning, I saw a cat chasing something on the ground. I stomped down the garden but the cat had gone when I got there. The Dove parents were sitting on the fence but I couldn't see any babies in the nest. #MHHSBD

Our usual spot for a cuppa and where the Blackbird comes for his treats 😊 The Common Thyme and Lemon Creeping Thyme means I can sit and watch the Bees while I have a break 🐝 #MHHSBD #Garden #Wildflowers #WildGardening

These are my Watercress plants. Easy to grow in compost as long as you keep it well-watered 💦 Whether you call it Nasturtium officinale, (Latin), Biolair uisge, (Gaelic) or Carse, Geraflouer or Wild skirret (Scots), it tastes so good freshly harvested 😊

Here's a lovely Bumblebee having a rest on our Great Mullein 🐝💚 My Bumblebee IDing is not brilliant but I'm guessing Early Bumblebee but I'm happy to be corrected 😊 (Google said Buff-tailed so I'm quite confused 🤔) #MHHSBD

It's a very gloomy day today so here's some Creeping Buttercups, (Ranunculus repens) 😊 We've lots of these in the garden and the Bees seem particularly keen on these little parcels of sunshine 🐝 #MHHSBD

We've a pair of Collared Doves who're nesting in our Ivy "hedge" for the 2nd year. This is probably batch 2 as they've been at it since February. This was adult changeover time yesterday and they're being very cagey and not letting me see if there's eggs or babies in there 😊 #MHHSBD

Secondly, like a lot of older houses in Scotland, we don't have a front garden. Our house opens straight onto the pavement but that doesn't mean no flowers. I've sown Virginia Stock into some cracks and left any wildflowers that have self-seeded 😊 🐝🦇🦋🐛🪲

🧵A short thread on growing without obvious soil: Firstly, this is our patio 😄 The plants in the tubs have self-seeded into the cracks providing flowers for the wildlife 🐝🐭🐦‍⬛ It's now sustaining about 15 different plant species and it's getting better every year 😊 #MHHSBD

So why are the best plants the ones that have self-seeded? 😂 This is a Great Mullein at the bottom of our garden. Looking at the size of its leaves, it's going to be an absolute monster ☺️ Hopefully, we'll get some Mullein Moth caterpillars 🐛🦋 #MHHSBD 🌱
