Want to see some process images? Of course you do! My concept was Nahoko walking along a path trashed on either side with destroyed airplanes - Jiro's reality. She's a beacon in the darkness around her, and she walks along the path towards the hypersaturated clouds that symbolized Jiro's dreams.
There's also Filters in the menu for blurs and other distortions (those aren't on a non-destructive layer so prep accordingly, but I figured they're common effects in PS that are hidden and easily in CSP menus). I hope any of this helps 💖
I don't know Photoshop nor your process, but if you're looking for non-destructive layers to do stuff like tone or color adjustments over the top of existing layers, you want "Correction Layers" in the menu here:
Brought to you by a routine bloodwork appt: We've gotten so used to blood tests in modern life that I don't think we pause long enough to fully appreciate it. Like, we figured out that a vial of blood (or five) gives us a snapshot of a number of processes your body's running in that moment. Neat!
I went back to bed to rest for 10 mins, which became over an hour because I'm not a monster:
New art???🍃 This is simply called "The Ruins" - it was meant to be a quick exercise in composition *last summer*, but then I decided I wanted to render foliage and forget to finish it for months on end. Prints of this and more are available at Inprnt! www.inprnt.com/gallery/jenn...
Busy day! I also did this mountain study for @maddybellwoar.com's Art Club this month! The reference was rich in saturated blues and greens, but I wanted to practice reinterpreting the ref with a custom color palette (~4hrs)
Made this small gouache painting during Yumione's (@yumione on Instagram) workshop this evening! (~90mins)
Did another quick set of studies yesterday, the left using a blue gouache with water, the right using the same color more like gouache and mixing w/ white to create the values. Prob could've used another pass on both but I was painting outside til sunset and it got too cold for the paint to dry 🥶
Yesterday's gouache practice, Value studies two ways (ref from Visign discord, where I lurk): - On left, a single color gouache using only water to control values via dilution - On right, the same color but using white to control values instead. Interesting that the waterier version dried pinker!
Over the weekend I was inspired to get away from the pc and try some sky studies with gouache for practice!
Hi Stu, I've already been in a Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger inspiration kick; I'd love a chance to add some Final Fantasy to that list! Here's some examples of my work - my portfolio + contact info is at www.jennyhainesart.com
Ordered some cheerful suncatcher window clings from poppodopolis.com and they arrived quickly and well packaged! There's a 20% off everything sale going on til tonight in case anyone else wants to catch some spring sunbeams!☀️
I was holding off on mine and Poppy's daily Animal Crossing until some scheduled tasks were done for the morning. I was doing some other stuff to kill time when she took me to her speech buttons and tapped "Now." *pause* "Play Bedtime." Yes ma'am! She's now happily slapping damselflies on the TV 😂
Two adorable and colorful black-cheeked lovebirds for this month's #BirdWhisperer! (Digital; 1hr) @birdwhisperers.bsky.social #kleineKunstklasse #birds
I'm sure @robhainescreative.space is so glad he gave me this Otomatone today, whose high-pitched keening I discovered is the perfect response to sensible questions I don't feel like answering.
Hi #PortfolioDay! I'm Jenny, a UK-based freelance artist who loves painting colorful, dreamy environments, often inspired by my love of retro games. I'm available for 2D games concept art and fantasy illustration! 🖌️ www.jennyhainesart.com ✉️ jennyhainesart@gmail.com 🎨 cara.app/snarkylamassu
It's been a month or so and I thought she'd be bored of the game by now. Although she's stopped slapping the tv so much (fewer bugs in winter), she still "encourages" me to play it every morning, and calmly sits with me to watch. It's become a nice daily ritual.
Today's back-to-work task is sitting at my desk and trying to remember who I was and what I was doing before the holidays. If I can even get to my desk - Poppy refuses to believe her 24hr, personal heater has to go do other things now.
My last bit of art for the year, and it's a European Crested Tit for this month's #BirdWhisperer! Happy New Year everyone! #birds #kleineKunstklasse
2026 bullet journal at the ready, complete with inspiring stickers from @whatrobindoes.bsky.social! You can find her shop at: www.etsy.com/uk/shop/what... (her TTRPG merit badge sticker set in particular would be perfect for your new journal!)
I thought returning to Animal Crossing would be a relaxing way to get through winter, but now Poppy harasses me if we don't play it every morning. She's also a terrible backseat gamer, and glares at me if I spend too long in buildings or talking to npcs when she wants damselflies to slap.
A Spotted Owlet for this month's #BirdWhisperer! (study, ~2.5hrs in Clip Studio Paint)
If you like Witch Hat Atelier's art, you might be interested in A Bride's Story (by Kaoru Mori) for art reference; if nothing else, the detailed fabric textures are out of this world:
Oh, I can finally do this thing with my latest painting! I'm still quite slow and clumsy with my Blender blockouts (but I'm getting better!), but even that janky scene on the left made the concept real and gave me what I needed to make it good.
I finished a small painting in a rush this morning and haven't yet emptied the thick, tea-colored paint water that's sitting next to my actual tea mug. Place your bets now. (Oh yeah, here's the painting, for @maddybellwoar.com's Monthy Art Show stream today)
