I took the kids to a place to see dinosaurs, but it turns out that it's a whole festival here with nature booths. Anyway, please enjoy my new friend, the bottlenose dolphin skull. 🙂

To elaborate on the lack of academic citations, let's imagine this is a genealogical citation, which is based on the Chicago Manual of Style. This is a screenshot from Walden's website, btw. (See next post for where the citations should go)

P. 75, P. 76 - Flood Comes

There is mention of flooding in Vermont in 1811, though not specifically in Weybridge.

Anna Kingman, Charity’s sister, did tragically die in 1811, leaving behind her husband, Henry Kingman, and seven children: Cyrus, Freeman, Mary Howard, Anna Maria, Lysander, Sally, and Abel. She was 40 years old.

The letter mentioned by Silence is real, I’ve read it and transcribed it at the Henry Sheldon Museum. Here is the full text:

I'm researching the S.S. Graf Waldersee, for genealogy reasons, and I came across this article from The Boston Globe from May 1, 1912. It's eerie to think of the ship finding wreckage from the Titanic, which sunk two weeks before the article.

A newspaper article, which says:
WATER FRONT NEWS.
Titanic Wreckage Is Seen From Graf Waldersee.
Men on Schooner J. S. Lamprey
Have Nerve-Racking Passage.
Wreckage from the steamship Titanic was seen 10 miles north of where the big liner foundered by the officers of the Hamburg-American Liner Graf Wal-dersee, in yesterday from Hamburg.
According to the log of the Waldersee the steamer passed eight monster icebergs on last Thursday. between lat 11° 18' N. lon 47° 10 W and lat 41° 51' N, Ion 19° 52 W. Capt Froehlich and his oficers said that chairs, life-buoys, broken wood and other drifting matter stretched over a great area. No bodies were seen, however.
The Graf Waldersee came well north of the point where the Titanic went to the bottom.
She called at Halitax
where she landed

passengers, principally immigrants destined for the Canadian Northwest.
Two passengers were barred at Hall-fax and taken back to Hamburg.
The Graf Waldersee is the largest steamer of the line to visit this port.

About 5000
tons is consigned to Boston importers.
The balance of the cargo will be taken to Baltiinore.

I have a made a casserole thing with matzo, which is supposed to be a mina? It's tasty, but I remain convinced that it would be better with lasagna noodles (and maybe some cheese) rather than matzo layers.

Onwards, we go! The brisket is in the oven, the chicken drumsticks are cooked, and charoses is made. I no longer have feet; they hurt from standing so much. 🙃
