Started 14 weeks of training for the October half marathon today. At a bit of a deficit since I am just getting back from medical leave and also was dealing with some shin splint issues, but it’s good to have a goal. #runsky

Off medical leave this week with small steps back. Feeling stronger every day and have appreciated the kind notes. To celebrate, I volunteered at the Great South Side Sale that Lehigh does every year to raise money for local kids. Including THIS GUY who will be 15(!) soon & folds pants like a boss.
Sometimes you’re in a hole and have to choose whether to stay there or use it to plant something new to spruce up the place a bit.
Salmon for the missus, steak for the boys. Asparagus for all. BBQ in my Dan McQuade shirt. Happy Mother’s Day to all who celebrate.
While on medical leave, I’ve passed the time on NYT Games and have gotten really good at crossword wordplay. This is kind of a crazy result for me for a Saturday puzzle (the hardest of the week).

One thing I found comfort it in is visualization, remembering all the wonderful times I spent in the California redwoods as a kid. Those beautiful, ancient trees that have evolved to survive fire. Picturing myself as a redwood - strong and resilient. Here's a photo I took on a trip in 2018.
Hi friends. Three weeks of partial-hospitalization alternatives therapy later, I am stable and moving to the next phase. Finding myself and my voice again. I kind of liked that guy and want him back. Thank you for the kind thoughts and messages. It has meant more than you could imagine.

So my great colleague @merecummings.bsky.social brought in a King Cake today (we do fasnachts in Eastern PA but I embrace all cultural forms of the Fasnacht Day / Mardi Gras gauntlet). Anyhow, I got the plastic baby which means I get to be President I think?
