And I hate to say it, but probably too vague (so the due process issue) from "Affects the Commonwealth's interests" (a very broad line). Probably something like this would survive, though?

Nothing in the laws of the Commonwealth shall be construed to bar prosecution under Virginia law for conduct that independently constitutes a criminal offense under the Code of Virginia, regardless of whether such conduct was the subject of federal prosecution, acquittal, conviction, or executive clemency. The Commonwealth's Attorney may initiate such prosecution where the conduct occurred in whole or in part within the Commonwealth, or caused direct harm to persons or property within the Commonwealth.

Congrats to @analiliafornj.bsky.social (BIG WINNER for @njwfp.bsky.social) and much respect to @tommalinowski.bsky.social (grace!) in NJ-11. The biggest loser? AIPAC, who torpedoed Malinowski for moderate Israel/Palestine views (their candidate, former Lt. Gov. Way, was a distant third place).

Unfortunately, the outcome of our race cannot be understood without also taking into account the massive flood of dark money that AIPAC spent on dishonest ads, which falsely accused me of supporting Trump’s immigration crackdown, during the last three weeks. I wanted so much to be able to tell you today that this effort, which was meant to intimidate Democrats across the country, failed in NJ-11.

But the huge difference between the early vote, which we were winning comfortably, and the Election Day vote, suggests that it had a major effect. I met several voters in the final days of the campaign who had seen the ads and asked me, sincerely: “Are you MAGA? Are you for ICE?”

I come away from this experience believing even more strongly that unlimited dark money poses a threat to our democracy — whether it’s being spent by AIPAC or by special interests like the cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence lobbies. These groups demand that members of Congress pledge 100% fealty to their unpopular positions or risk being destroyed by a massively funded deluge of personal attacks. Our Democratic Party must have the courage to stand up to these groups. We must remember that they need us — so that they can pretend to be bipartisan — much more than we need them. The American people will be with us if we do.

Really excited to read through this. Takahashi has always been my favorite manga artist (and my favorite series has always been Ranma 1/2).

This list of the results from Jersey City (and Hoboken) elections on Tuesday is awesome (from @katiebrennan.bsky.social). Mayor-Elect Solomon has a nearly completely aligned city council (or maybe completely aligned, with @eleanalittle.bsky.social and Gilmore already on-board).

Every single one of our endorsed candidates won. Progressive candidates swept Jersey City and Hoboken, beating machine-backed opponents across the board:
