The Chewy box holds a cat...or does it (it does not; Dr. Rose objects to Schrodenger jokes, so I'll pull this punch...line): We put a can of food out for Little Guy (naming rights available for a small donation, PM for donor details). Looked in on him and the dads: someone ate it. Was it him?
Mikki's sunset, Pt2. He had one of those high yapping voices we hate to hear in other chi-chis. His buddy Murphey has a deeper tone. They'd both howl when the other dogs would bark. In harmony. No howling ĺately. Man, we miss that goofball.
...and she's been with us ever since. She rode with us when we returned back East and came along when we drove back to NM (we pingponged a few more times from the Land of Entrapment to the real world). We saved her and her brothers, Bruce and Little Man. They're together again. Love you, Penny.
"Well, spit." That's how my mother would curse; her Catholic upbringing stayed with her thru Last Rites. This is our Penelope's last sunset. A fractious little tuxedo who bossed around much bigger cats in her home. 15 years ago, Dr. Rose saved her from a farmer's barn in Ohkay Owinge...
End of the month means another big payment on the farm. Owner won't split the house from the 40 acres so we're stuck here, hoping for a better solution than packing the horse trailer with catteries and driving the RV back east to the real world. New England or maybe Canada. DM for donation deets.
Mikki's sunset. These sad words won't suffice. The hardest part of saving them is seeing them go. He and Murphey were picked up running loose in Cimarron; a TX SUV was seen leaving them behind. We took them in; Blue Rose of Hope Animal Sanctuary specializes in cats, but this was meant to be.
Ms. LePew came into the garage one night to sample the kitty kibble. My brother, the Sanctuary's major donor (thanks, Patrick, for wiring the $$$ this week instead of sending a check), saw something we wrote about skunks and told me, "We just want to know the $ isn't for rescuing skunks." Nope.
Actualizing our need to catch our feral boy so he can join Silvio for a short ride to Trinidad (Colorado, not the island) at 7a.m. for vetting. Finally caught him 5 mins ago, blanket covered his little man cave then plopped him into his carrier. Just like I envisioned it but cripes it took 4ever.
We hope to catch these 3 brothers so they can join Archie in the RV. Our Sanctuary is desperate, food costs are overwhelming, and we need your help. If you can, Message us for donation details; if you can't chip in, please share our story. As always, support your local shelter or sanctuary.
Hanky Panky is loving the RV life. Springer planned a power outtage tomorrow, but our nice neighbor loaned us a generator so we don't have to leave town for the day. That comes Thursday, when Dr. Rose meets the oncologist. She's got a lesion on her spine. Sounds scary. It is.
Hanky Panky awaits his sponsorship deal with a certain pet-food company. Many weeks after my last edit, PubCo emailed me a short project. While actively seeking new clients, I haven't landed any yet, so I have to take it, short or long. It's short (<$400) but sandwich $$ are even shorter.
Our Bruce looks like this one's brother. He looks unimpressed by my photo op.
Blue Rose of Hope Animal Sanctuary used to have 5 males in the Boys' Room; last month, one of them had kittens (oops; sexing blacks cats is hard, man). A miracle, you say? Maybe. But we just had another one. Three newbies. Please help us keep helping them. Send us a DM for donation options.
This little guy is Bill; here at Blue Rose of Hope Animal Sanctuary, we are trapping his siblings & aunties. Spay Taos can vet them, but we're overwhelmed with feeding them. Please Message us for donation options. If you can't help us, please share our story. Maybe one of your friends can.
Good night, outside kitties, Mamas and babies, stay dry under the house, more Friskies in the morning. Warmer tomorrow, prayers for tender blossoms to stay strong thru the chill night. Like democracy lovers.
I left one big-a$$ tumbleweed for this morning but cleared all the way to the neighbors, working til twilight. It's cool and overcast today so I won't get too sweaty before my shift at the sandwich shop. Agua es vida, yo.
Ditch day here at Blue Rose of Hope Animal Sanctuary. Tumbleweed City is what my aching back calls it. Slathered on the SPF, as you can see our turquoise blue skies. Neighbors already have water, ours is coming soon and will fill our pond tonite.
Our Twinkie needed a sweater with rocks in pockets when our NM winds got fierce, like her.
Thanks for share, Jeffrey. "Nice turtle," Fred says. (He's in sink while his tank was cleaned)
