Currently the artist of Sally Forth, written by Francesco Marciuliano. Past work includes teaching, lettering manga and writing/drawing Flash Gordon.
An old color chart on display at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum in Columbus, Ohio. I used this particular chart as well when I started on staff as a colorist in 1989 in the Comic Art Department at King Features Syndicate. 😁
First pic is Colleen Doran at The Billy Ireland Museum the day after the NCS Reubens. This is just after she gave an amazing presentation in the Schulz Auditorium. And no, she doesn’t have her hands up because I was trying to rob her. Jerry Craft (ouside the window) took the following pic as proof.
The National Cartoonists Society is currently celebrating its 80th Anniversary at the 2026 Reuben Awards and NCS Conference, being held August 6-8th in Columbus, Ohio. With the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum hosting panels and exhibits, they couldn’t have picked a better spot!
The NCS Reuben Awards is celebrating 80 years this coming Friday! That’s Garry Trudeau at the podium having just won the 1995 Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year. Behind Garry Trudea is Harry Devlin on the left and Mort Walker on the right. Side note - Need help identifying the guy to the far left!

Tired of seeing people using AI to mimic (i.e. rip off) a popular artist's style for their book cover/advertisement/whatever. Can't draw or design yourself? Hire someone. And if you don't have the money to hire someone, using a program that steals from, then devalues an artist, is not the answer.
FYI that registration just opened for a kids class in cartooning I’ll be teaching this fall at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Date: Saturdays, Sep 26 - Nov 14, 2026 Time: 9:30–11:30 a.m. CST Open to students ages 9–12 Location: In person at MCAD More info at... tinyurl.com/bp8rhn7j
it’s just been announced that the Joe Kubert School is now a part of the County College of Morris. I’m a Kubert School Alum (class of ’89) so this brings up a lot of memories. Got a chance to visit the school when it moved from Dover just last year - here’s some pics. www.patreon.com/JimKeefe/pos...
It’s official, Francesco’s inspiration for the “Dinosaurs in Upside-Down Cadillac Ranch” was a combination of the Cadillac Ranch in Texas and The Cabazon Dinosaurs in California (and their cameo in “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure”) – NOT the cadillacs and dinosaurs in Mark Schultz’s Xenozoic Tales. 😁
And as the Sally Forth summer storyline draws to a close, Ted finally gets to visit the "Dinosaurs in Upside-Down Cadillac Ranch.” More at comicskingdom.com/sally-forth
It’s Dave Stevens’s birthday (July 29, 1955)! More Rocketeer on my Patreon at www.patreon.com/JimKeefe/pos...
Never know who you’re going to run into at the San Diego Comic Con. Here’s iconic artists John Romita Sr. and Jim Mooney from 1998 - the first and only SDCC I ever attended. More pics at www.patreon.com/JimKeefe/pos...
On the newsstand... Spider-Man magazine/comics. Even includes a Steve Ditko pinup! 💚
40 years ago this summer I was preparing to move out east to go to the Joe Kubert School. It was one of the few schools of its kind back in the day. Lots of schools that teach cartooning have popped up since, here's a list of a few from my Patreon... www.patreon.com/JimKeefe/pos...
I keep reflecting on the MIA exhibit currently on display entitled, Modern Art and Politics in Germany 1918-1945. The following is a wood cut created by Käthe Kollwitz (1867-1945). Echos of recent ICE raids here in Minneapolis abound. More pics from the exhibit on my Patreon at patreon.com/JimKeefe
With how crappy things have been here in the US, finding comfort this holiday weekend in Jack Kirby's Captain America. More Jack Kirby, and my attempt at recreating a Jack Kirby cover drawing, on my Patreon at patreon.com/JimKeefe

This beautiful Bad Bunny print just arrived. Mary C. Bruno down at Bruno Press does old-school analog letterpress printing. I mean, how cool is that?! Check out more at www.mcbrunopress.com
Earlier this month the International Comic Salon in Erlanger, Germany had an exhibit featuring ICE Out comics. Lars von Törne, a journalist at the German newspaper Tagesspiegel, generously shared video and pictures of the event. Here's a link - www.patreon.com/JimKeefe/pos... #iceoutcomics

Here I thought I was drawing Paula Abdul, but a big shout out to Meta AI for correcting me - it was actually Reba McEntire! Makes me think all those AI data centers destroying the environment are worth it. 😑
Thanks to David Stroh at King Features for going that extra mile coloring the poster on Hilary’s wall in today’s Sally Forth.
Forever thankful for libraries with great graphic novel sections. Here's a cool one I just picked up. Century’s End by writer Pierre Christin and artist Enki Bilal. Circa 2016, Titan Books. I'm woefully ignorant of so many fantastic comic books done outside of the U.S. - Working on correcting that.
Pen and ink drawing for Paula Abdul's birthday (June 19, 1962). Flashback Friday to Paula Abdul and Personality Comics circa 1991 on my Patreon at patreon.com/JimKeefe
With the orange pedophile in the White House turning 80 freakin’ years old today, this quote has been on my mind.
