I got a copy of the 2002 edition of A History of Newfoundland by DW Prowse at the local thrift shop a couple weeks ago. This is part of the forward by Leslie Harris. I paid fifty cents for this copy.

This tiny lobster was in the same pot with a large lobster! Even though the little one is so small, it’s still mature enough to reproduce, but it is still very young. It takes years for a lobster to reach the minimum allowable size.
Lobster with an unusual claw that I fished up yesterday. Undersized female so it was released. I wonder will it keep that shape the next time it molts?

So I went to Google Map and went to Hastings because that was part of the English Cinque Ports and I found this, no ports at all! There was a storm in 1287 that dumped a bunch of mud and sand right into the harbours!!
Learned a little more about this dinner menu today, that sailing was bringing service members back from England after they had been working in Germany with NATO operations. Next step would be to figure out which if either of my uncles was a member of the 79th field regiment of the RCA
I understand their behaviour and movement, food preferences, water conditions and depth. I can kill them quickly and humanely. There isn’t a more hands on food source for me outside berry picking and vegetable gardening. I know them lil dudes and knowing your food is good
Checked out a book today which Ray Guy also checked out on February 5th of 1975. The library stopped using names in the late 80s and stopped using paper checkout slips entirely in the 2010s
