DM from Hendrik Klaasens asking me why I out him on my “Quiet Corner” list and explaining that he was “leading a Campaign Wave on climate change.” I reply that his campaign wave was flooding my feed so I temporarily put him on my mute list and would remove him from it in due course, to which he replied “Okay, I unfollowed you. Problem solved.”

It’s got the location wrong by about 100 miles, but Duck Duck Go can at least answer the question.

Duck Duck Go search results for “when is sunset” showing the sunrise and sunset times for the current date (May 31, 2026) at Idaho Falls, Idaho. If you’re curious, the sunrise time is listed as 5:50 am MDT and sunset is at 9:01 pm MDT. I have not confirmed these times, but they sound about right.

It’s also entirely likely that maybe what you have is not the flu at all. In my experience people categorise quite a number of different seasonal maladies as “the flu.” Do you have a sniffle and feel like shit? Could be anything. Have you been laid up in bed for three days running? Probably the flu.

We have a small nature pond that we like to keep ice free because birds love it in winter. We have a de-icer that we controlled manually, but this year I’ve decided to automate it. It’s supposed to be thermostatically controlled and I wanted to see when it kicked in and, well …

You can see the pond temperatures rising when the de-icer is on, but there is no sign at all of the alleged thermostat kicking in. Not even when the pond temperature exceeds 15°C (59°F).
