Toronto, biking & walking, Blue Jays. Americana, world & roots music. Dreaming of a world free of Poilievre, Doug Ford, & Pu*in, and that other guy. Trying to ignore politics in that crazy country south of us.
“She left her duty belt, which included a firearm, handcuffs, and an additional loaded magazine, in a clothing store in Square One Shopping Centre”
Nice! After looking at the radar map in the Weather Network IOS app, I somehow got directed to this fishing scam web page.
In May, I was part of a bike tour of 5 Cormier parks, organized by Toronto Planning. Lots of people who’d been involved in the creation of the parks spoke. A great day. HTO & Love Parks, Dog Fountain/Berzcy , Sugar Beach & Leslie. Learned a lot more about him. This was unveiled at Love Park. Zoom in
Take a political time machine trip: The Ontario Legislature TV channel right now is broadcasting Premier Bob Rae, and Leader of the third party, Mike Harris. How can we make this permanent?
Blame Tory. He started it, and then created the unsuccessful mayoral candidate who now now controls all those municipalities.
“USA! USA! USA!” )(Headline is a bit misleading: just about every country outclasses the USA these days. 🇧🇪🇧🇪
Remembering when I used to *enjoy* going to the US. Pic taken on their bicentennial, pitching our tent in the parking ”lot” at Willie Nelson’s 1976 4th of July Picnic, Gonzalez, Texas. At this point, I may never cross that border again.
Moonlight as a kitten. You can see some of her touches of silver. However, she has long gone to join her namesake in the baseball Field of Dreams.
Bought his first album when I was15. Loved it… and still love the cover! www.discogs.com/release/3219...
Any of them resemble Richard Nixon? (Story from The Guardian, cartoon from the great Herblock, aka Herbert Block.)
Spotted in a couple of windows last night: - Poster for the 1975 “Thrilla in Manila” in the window of a Filipino restaurant. “The greatest event in all sports history” - An Iranian soccer beaver @ St Lawrence Hall
My favourite. a beautiful 1963 Amphicar in New Toronto. Original owner still takes it out for a spin in the lake.
The dinosaurs of City Council. How many consecutive years each has been on Council, & total years in elected office, including prior Council terms, school, provincial & federal. Who’s registered to run so far. Big question: will Nunziata call it quits, and let Colle take the dinosaur crown?
2/2 This evening, a small but vocal band from the Revolutionary Communist Party marching down Yonge & up Bay chanting “Overthrow the Epstein Class.”
Today, walking in Toronto. Came across military trucks pulling cannons heading to Queen’s Park. Sure enough, it was 21 cannon shots for a long-dead Queen. Shortly after, I passed a guy wearing an “Ollie North: American Hero” t-shirt. Never expected to see that here. 1/2
Thanks! Will check it out & bookmark. Good timing - I just got on the GO train at Oakville heading home.
Let Domer know I’ll be wearing the SkyDome at tomorrow’s game. Too bad my pal left town a couple of days ago.
The third Blues brother? But he has a much different idea of “a mission from God” than Jake & Elwood.
I flew Libyan Arab Airlines in 2006. There was a hole in the floor of our plane. (thankfully it didn’t reach the outside.)
The Bay bus had a hell of a detour yesterday afternoon. Northbound to Scarborough, southbound to Milton.
Queen’s Park (2 trees), UofT front campus (newish trees) & Robarts Library. People love their cherry blossoms 🌸… and posing in front of them. My favourite who posed for multiple pics with a cherry blossom in her mouth.
Another Iranian march today (down Yonge, to Queen’s Park.) But the number of Israeli flags seemed to outnumber Iranian. American flags, “USA! ISRAEL!” chants, a TRUMP 2028 flag & an inflatable Donald marching.
