Scott McGee--not a fascist

"My boy, we are pilgrims in an unholy land." TCM Sen. Dir. of Orig. Programming (and formerly FilmStruck...) Author of DANGER ON THE SILVER SCREEN. My dream dinner party: Lincoln, Will Rogers and Bugs Bunny.
It starts today. That is, history must be written and stated, constantly and unceasingly, starting now, that states for the record of all time: donald trump lost his stupid fucking war.
Now that trump cleared up the "Jesus or Doctor??" confusion from his posted/deleted pic, here is Thomas Mitchell as Dr. Jesus Christ in STAGECOACH, Lew Ayres and Lionel Barrymore as a pair of Jesuses from the DR. JESUS KILDARE series, & Toshiro Mifune in the underrated DR. SAMURAI CHRIST.
These two—in the pantheon of the funniest mofos who’ve ever walked moist dirt, including the ancient world. This is an extraordinary feat of physical comedy bit from LIBERTY (1929).
In the trump presidency, we are now at that phase in A FACE IN THE CROWD when Lonesome Rhodes can’t help but reveal on a hot mic (welcome to the resistance, Pat Neal) the loathsome pig he’s been along.
Today’s my bday. So do me a solid: Head up. Stand up. Speak up.
What a gift for us all, the man waiting behind that door... I mean...just look at those performances, those films, those moments... Rest in peace, sir.
Here was a man. Here was an American. Here was a hero.
"Eh...what's up, Doc?" Starting in Feb, Looney Tunes will be a part of @tcmtv.bsky.social regular programming. That is what's, in fact, up. For the 1st time since they originally debuted, Bugs, Daffy, et al will appear on the schedule alongside Cagney, Crawford et al. Incredible, ain't it???
Recommended highly: Death by Lightning on @netflix.com Fascinating history I Never Knew about the collision of violent, deranged fanaticism and public service for the good of American governance and democracy Watch it, if only to remember a president who made a difference in only 3 short months
With Diane Ladd’s passing, we’ve now lost both Flos in the same year. Polly Holliday passed in Sept. 2025 can kiss my grits.
What next year's TCM Classic Film Festival is all about.
#NoKings ATL. Fuck donald trump, right in his miracle ear (metaphorically)
“The first thing which disappears when men are turning a country into a totalitarian state is comedy and comics. Because we are laughed at, I don’t think people really understand how essential we are to their sanity.” —this guy
@tcmtv.bsky.social The Plot Thickens podcast season got a really really cool rave on @Xcrement by @stephenking.bsky.social
On this day in 1940, Bugs Bunny debuted in “A Wild Hare.” In March 2025 at age 54, I had him permanently affixed to my left arm. My first and only tattoo. Why? *Because Bugs Bunny won’t abide a bully* A sweaty orange buffoon demands the daily wake-up call: “Of course you know…this means war.”
Escaping MAGAmurica with Mumford & Sons in Atlanta tonight. Not seeing any red-hated (or hatted, I guess) distractions so far… #Mumford&sons
Never noticed in THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (‘51) that after alien emissary Klaatu finds the cleaner tag on his stolen coat, he doesn’t bother finding a trash can. Asshole throws it on the ground. #CancelKlaatu (Since there’s no sarcasm font, please be advised…)
Happy Independence Day from tyrants, dictators and kings, for all who celebrate such notions.
As the direction for ICE agents to not identify themselves when kidnapping human beings—men, women and children—continues unabated, let us consider a name for these faceless stormtroopers. WWII had “Jerry.” Vietnam had “Charlie.” Meet *Gus Tapapeux*
With this silent, peaceful act of protest, one that could invite MAGAmurican reprisals, I declare myself a proud American, not for what America is right now, but for what it could be. MY FELLOW AMERICANS, DEFY THIS MOTHERFUCKER WITH CONSTANT CIVIL DISSENT.
Hi Blue Sky. After a prolonged absence, I'm returning to social media and to The Fight of Our Lives. Fuck fascists and, most assuredly, fuck donald trump. Let's roll.
Last summer, I interviewed these two for projects airing now in regular rotation on Turner Classic Movies. I gave a copy of my book to each of them...and I know for a fact that *Steven Spielberg* read the whole thing in two days. And loved it. Words fail me.
Christmas puzzle done. Would’ve been quicker had it not been for those meddling cats.
This is an unpaid self-promoting advertisement: Give your Elf-on-the-Shelf some daring ideas with my book DANGER ON THE SILVER SCREEN: 50 FILMS CELEBRATING CINEMA'S GREATEST STUNTS. Caveat emptor: While the book makes for a great Christmas gift, it is an ill-fitting stocking stuffer.
