Geek. Gay. Trying to be fit but failing miserably. Huge Buffy fan. Currently reading a shitload of comic books (mainly Avengers).
I honestly forgot how good the Under Siege storyline is. Brutal, well written and drawn, but mostly I feel the danger the Avengers are in. Even Thor’s arrival does not feel enough to guarantee victory. A true epic, the only thing I find out of place is Dr Druid. Just meh.
Hubby wants to watch House of the Dragon and honestly I don't remember who any of these characters are or what they are trying to achieve but godsdamnit Lord Hightower is sexy and he knows it.
I had forgotten how brutal the Mutant Massacre was. And though it was very good, it felt a bit inconsintent as a crossover. Seriously, no one in X-factor thought to call the X-men and tell them Jean is back? Other than that, X-Factor with the Simonsons is just peak entertainment.
Arthur Adams being amazing again and I thinks are by Sinkiewicz. Love me a good Emma story. She should never be used as a hero, at best a grey character.
Arthur Adams is a freaking god among artists. This is one of the best covers I have ever seen. Amazing idea and brilliantly executed. Too bad it had to spring out of Secret Wars II.
Getting really excited about the Buffy comic in Dynamite by Kelly Thompson and Stephen Byrne. Currently trying to convince the husband to rewatch the original tv shows with me. Nothing has worked so far unfortunately but I refuse to give up.
I love Wally West but the first six issues of Flash Vol. 2 made it difficult to remember why. Not sure if the series gets good before Mark Waid takes over.
"Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true. The bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats. And, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies and... everybody lives happily ever after."
I honestly cannot remember a time I laughed louder at a movie. I just loved everything about this movie, would go see it a second time. I don’t thing the awkwardness of the first half can be properly experienced at home.
I don't know why Jean was brought back in Avengers (and the FF) but I love this John Buscema cover. I also love this version of the team (not sure how I feel about Namor as a member yet).
I can't find a screenshot, but there is a scene in Supergirl where Kal gives Kara her costume and says "I Know It’s Pretty Colorful, But That’s Just So Everyone Knows We’re Good" and that's it. That's Superman. This line literally gave me chills and hope for the future of the franchise.
Secret Wars II may be the worst comic ever published. And it just goes on and on, WTF?
And as I'm about to become unemployed, I see this amazing omnibus -50%. Oh the struggle.
Imagine getting arrested for hanging an "Eat, Pray, Love" sign on the Empire State building.
Euphoria sucks. I did not like the first two seasons but the third one is just unwatchable.
Happy pride from the best fictional character ever and yes I am crying. I have idolized Superman since my early teens but him having a queer child and accepting him, no questions asked? I was just speechless and overjoyed. Credit to Tom Taylor and Cian Tormey for creating this amazing scene.
How the frak is Millie Alcock fourth in line? She plays the main character and the film is named after her character.
Someone was mentioning John Byrne’s current controversy and I googled to see what they were talking about by about. Apparently Byrne is so controversial, Wikipedia has a controversies section on his page 😬😬😬😬
Name your fav album to hear start to finish, no skips. And I dance like a crazy man during butterfly.
Is Emma’s tertiary mutant power to make random pieces of fabric stick on her and look cool while wearing said pieces of cloth?
I'm reading the whole event an the tie is have nothing to do with the main story (at least up to now). Love the John Byrne art though.
#JLA Year One is one of my favourite stories ever. Mark Waid is just an amazing storyteller and while I not a huge fan of Brian Augustyn or Barry Kitson, the art is really beautiful here. My fave moment has to be Aquaman’s laughing when Hal declares himself teamleader.
This editor’s note by Ann Nocenti may be my favourite one ever.
My husband is driving me crazy as he wants to watch Spider-man Noir in full colour. Babe it’s called Spider-man Noir not Spider-man Technicolor. Just shut up and play with your phone while I watch it.
This is a John Byrne appreciation post. Nothing else. Just an amazing creator that I had completely forgotten how much I used to love when I was younger.
I had never read Lifedeath II and the design blew my mind. Barry Windsor Smith is comic art at its finest. Just amazing.
Straight men should go nowhere near ladies hair. I love John Byrne (not a huge fan of Milgrom), but what the fuck man?
