There is one line in the report that mentions that some submissions to the inquiry asked for School Library Services to be made statutory (as they were when I was at school). The loss of SLSs in many areas has been a HUGE handicap to schools trying to get children reading for pleasure. …

A quote from the report: Some submissions also called for School Library Services, which exist in some local authorities to provide library services and support to schools, to be made statutory.

We came across this statue of the Greek god Plutus in Glenveagh Castle gardens, Donegal this afternoon. From around 200 CE, it’s thought to be the first depiction of edible underwear.

I keep hearing or reading about people trying to cool their home/workplace by opening the windows in the day time. If the air is hotter outside than inside, you DON'T want to do this. As this BBC article explains, venting is best done at night during a heat wave: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
