Don’t want to be a bus driver all my life Words and photos: "We are on the brink of a new era, if only ..." (Beiderbecke Trilogy)
All four series now on Netflix and well worth watching. Jet black humour, beautifully performed, all the way to the very end. But also RIP Ascen López. And also also: subtitles that someone has obviously bothered about.
To satisfy curiosity - and because I didn't think I could do it well myself - I asked Copilot to plot 'as the crow flies' between Bohemian FC in Dublin and Bohemians in Prague.
Words and photos from Saturday's pre season friendly are now up jonsmalldon.wordpress.com/2026/08/03/a...
When friendlies become unfriendly. A few feisty moments towards the end of an otherwise fairly standard pre-season goalless draw between the Uniteds of Hastings and Hashtag. Words and photos to follow.
A lovely evening watching the younger, as part of Battle Abbey Chamber Choir, join with Whatlington Singers to perform Ola Gjeilo's Sunrise Mass and a host of other lovely pieces including Adiemus. Who knows? Maybe more photos to follow.
Saw Station Road at Battle Tap again Words that wouldn't have made much sense to me a few weeks ago
Like all true English patriots, I will be watching the World Cup in my “new old” Werder top what I got for my birthday
They should put "loitering at New Romney station watching the little engines" on the NHS
Far harder to actually watch the monochrome version that it needs to be, but, dang, episode 1 watched and it is cool and fun and just what the doctor ordered
More photos to follow but a fun punk-skiffle night was had at the Brickmakers with Fear of Last Orders regaling god's waiting room with tales of South London ruffness
Words and photos from Station Road at Battle Tap are now up jonsmalldon.wordpress.com/.../live-at-... It was fun
First time as a proper gig photographer. Yes, I am nearly 50 and these guys are very much not. Loved it all. I'll do some proper processing later. This is a classic "black n white quick fix". And, should Station Road (a band of Rose Bruford students) be in your town ... go see. They are rather good.
One from today, one from September 2012. Insert a comment about the passage of time here. Blimey.
I will take better photos but will I take another one that has everything that is Hastings about May Bank Holiday ... - Jack in the Green - Motorbikes - Family along to watch - Someone taking photos of the above It's lacking someone carrying a dubious pint. That's the challenge for next time.
Am I a gig photographer now? Two in the next 11 days. No pay obviously, beer appreciated though. None of the gear, some ideas. Let's see how it goes. (Photo is of Lemn Sissay in the Royal Festival Hall sixteen years ago)
You've got a pub, you've got pasties, you've got needless road signage, and you've got punk ass Morris dancing Welcome to Hastings #jitg #jackinthegreen #hastings
Galleries are up, words will follow Hastings v Herne Bay - flic.kr/s/aHBqjCRvNM Hastings v Bognor - flic.kr/s/aHBqjCStsy Bexhill v Pagham - flic.kr/s/aHBqjCStoL
Never had a viral post, never had a Facebook post break cover or a photo on Flickr/Insta break containment. So this getting nudging 100 likes and a battalion of comments is unexpected.
Took a walk round Hastings today. There will be photos to follow. Here's one of Alexandra Park. Also, if you do not live in Hastings, please forget you saw this. You are not supposed to know Alexandra Park exists.
I am far more invested in Bohemka v Sparta and, possibly, so were the players on the pitch. Not one for the memory banks but it was sunny and there was good chat. Pagham overwhelming Bexhill in Hastings. Photo backlog at the moment but I'm sure images will appear soon.
