Such an interesting thinker - one who built on the work of the much better known Mary Douglas and took it further…
Antony Gormley exhibition in Antwerp enhanced for us by allowing a peek at his bookshelf - tho maybe because we are similar age and recognise many of these titles :)
Here’s Julie at Bristol launch of the excellent new biography of Keith last week - which includes a scene in which they overhear a “where are they now?” radio spot, naming her. “Here doing the washing up” she replies… and cracks up ukjazznews.com/martin-phill...
Picked up s/h copy of Ward & Burns Jazz today and charmed by this pic of Ron Carter - who has a new recording coming out in June :)
What a great pic of the late Mike Westbrook, posted on FB by Billie Bottle. RIP
Very pleased with this new offering from www.urbangood.com, which arrived today.

Excellent new sculpture from my chums at Real World Visuals - showing British Land's carbon emission savings... More here www.realworldvisuals.com/rwv-projects...
Intrigued by photo of computer pioneer Tommy Flowers in Guardian feature today as I have a photo of my father, another who educated himself out of working class life in the 1930s, dressed *exactly* the same.
Never know what’s going to turn up in donations to Books for Amnesty - signed first edition of Shackleton’s expedition narrative sold at auction today for two grand :)
Book as art object - exceptionally beautiful publication that survived the demise of Unbound, and arrived today. Beautifully produced, too :)
That’s where they all went - Cheltenham Waterstones, top floor, in the corner by the travel section - weird
Enduring perk of occasional work in a s/h bookshop: just finished a marvellous book I didn’t know existed until last Thursday :)
As enjoyable as it is informative. I wonder who could write a book as good as this about England in my lifetime?
