The same day, Khalid was interviewed on CBC Winnipeg’s 98.3 FM, where he repeated his claims, speaking of the “desperation of the people” and making zero mention of the widespread presence of Palestinian terrorists inside the territory. At no point did his host seek to offer this information to listeners, either.

Khalid repeated a statement that he made in the previous interview, namely that there is an “effort” in order to “demonize the Palestinians.” This eyebrow-raising claim was made with no evidence, and is a remarkable allegation, given that it is Israel, not the Palestinians, which has been subject to a relentless demonization campaign by so-called “humanitarian” groups, most of the Canadian news media, trade unions, and others.

What’s not mentioned is how the evidence prompting these attacks are shaky at best and are largely unsupported; using the Ayatollah to voice the criticisms who remains a villain in the minds of western readers. #propaganda

Without such a plan, the crisis in Gaza will only deteriorate, with Hamas retaining both political and practical influence over a devastated population through armed actors, local administrative structures, aid distribution networks and access to basic goods and services. Reconstruction frozen. Investment absent. Civilians trapped in dependency and despair, with reportedly up to 1,000 killed since the ceasefire. Another generation of children growing up amid rubble, fear and hopelessness. There will be no security for Israel. No viable path to Palestinian self-determination.

Gazans understand this as well as anyone: without demilitarisation and a transition away from Hamas rule, there will be no meaningful reconstruction, no realistic prospect that Israel will ever withdraw from the 60 per cent of the Gaza Strip it now controls and no credible pathway towards a future led by Palestinians themselves.
