A federal judge makes clear that, no, she will not hold off on her sanctions against his lawyers in the IRS settlement fiasco.
Breaking news: we now know the identity of the person the Trump DOJ is trying to deport with a never-before-used "Alien Terrorist Removal Court." It's Nazira Haji Zada, the mother of one of the Afghan men who were convicted of plotting an ISIS-inspired mass shooting on Election Day 2024.
This is why people describe so many of these policies as part of a death cult.
One the issues is the way DOJ secretly tried to get the journalists' phone records from Google and other companies. In a letter to the judge on Monday, prosecutor Sean Buckley made a startling admission: the DOJ read the relevant law about this only *after* it issued the phone record subpoenas.
I'm about to walk into the Manhattan federal courthouse for the latest hearing in the government's case against Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro. The Trump admin is no longer blocking him from using Venezuelan funds to pay for his lawyers. We'll soon know when the judge will set the trial.
The Trump DOJ is trying to deport someone they deem an "alien terrorist" in a highly secretive DC court that is being tapped for the first time in 30 years. Much of this matter is classified. And according to the rules, the DOJ's application is submitted straight to the judge and filed under seal.
smalltime rapper called "Bankroll" boasts about partying with yacht bitches, having a jewish lawyer & all his "pesos" was arrested for a scheme that filed 446 sham returns seeking $7.9m in tax refunds check this low-key diss from the feds who say his watch, which retails for $350,000+, was a fake
The entire nation is on vacation for the rest of the week for the 250th, right? Right?
The US State Department warns Americans not to travel *north or south* of a street that splits an Ecuadorian city in half "due to terrorism and crime." Well, we keep deporting people there and this journalist has a job to do. See y'all on the other side.
The Trump government, in its hunt for antifascists who counter ICE raids, now has its first case explicitly against a "rapid response" group — in Minnesota. RRs are the activist networks that ID undercover feds and coordinate citizen monitors.

Today I stopped by the Delaney Hall immigrant detention center run by the private contractor GEO Group. It's the NJ site of increasingly fervent protests & escalating violence from ICE & cops. Anna Lucas of Brazil broke down & wept when she saw her husband leaving the jail compound, free at last.
I'm in Philly this morning. Here to see what Trump-lawyer-turned-DOJ-hatchet man-now-appellate-judge Emil Bove is up to. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
If you know someone who works/worked at the Treasury Department, let me know. I've discovered something ... interesting. Signal: JosePagliery.46
Oh the irony of this prosecutor ridiculing defense lawyers for pointing out that the Trump admin has abused the indictment process. The government tried to convince the judge that examining the situation was a waste of time. Calling this CYA is charitable, calling it a coverup less so.
At a House Judiciary Committee hearing, Rep. Raskin just pointed out Trump's $1.776 slush fund violates the 14th Amendment. The law explicitly forbids the US from paying debts for insurrection. Raskin moved the committee to subpoena leaders at DOJ, White House, & Treasury who touched this plan.
Tom Hardy was the right choice 10 years ago, but MGM dragged on with Daniel Craig too long.
