Zucchini is very skittish, whenever there is a noise she startles and looks to me for comfort, and I pet her and tell her she's safe and everything is going to be okay, and then she smooshes her face back into my thigh and falls asleep. I'm really honored by how much she trusts me.

Last night I made a gumbo from scratch and I'm really happy with how it turned out. The roux could've been a little darker, but I maybe overcorrected after burning it the last time I tried. Still really delicious, almost certainly more delicious tonight after it's sat for a day.
