Jim/James Go Cubs Banner - Graffiti reading "Do Wat feels Bien or Don’t” in Oaxaca, MX PFP - A man in a t-shirt & ball cap sits on a log facing the water on a beach. Next to him a bike leans against a palm tree.
The original photo. It definitely crops in a bit, to account for camera movement, I imagine, and loses a bunch of detail in the process from the same, but maybe a small bendy tripod balanced that could've worked (if I'd had one) where a full-sized wouldn't fit could fix that. Something to mess with.
I didn't know until recently an iPhone can turn a Live Photo into a long exposure(h/t Jamelle Bouie), and it doesn't do a terrible job for showing on small screens. Not decent camera on a tripod quality, but also, I was perched precariously on a rock with no place for a big tripod here. #photography
Rode the new Golden Gardens Shuttle to GG Beach on Sunday. So happy to have it as an option. Normally we bike, and will probably continue to do so, but now have the option of bringing our SUPs, hanging out before putting in and coming out at the Elks Club and then shuttling back to Market St.
I’m mutuals on IG with an old HS classmate who is Very Divorced and so reposts a lot of manosphere stuff(he's my window into that world), and I can’t tell if this is intended as “poor me” incel bs or hypermasculine “cowboy up” bs. I guess the ambiguity is what makes it Art.
I'm not a car person, so I didn't know that for a brief time in the late 60s Dodge made a little camper van, but now that I know they did, I want one.
"You'll never guess in a million guess what this reply is in response to." Just about ruined a library book spitting out my coffee.
Not sure what the drama going on between these two neighbors was (I think maybe somebody put their bins out a day early?), but I sure as heck didn't stick around to find out how it was resolved.
I would have been an even worse high school football player if every time I was supposed to be looking for the guy with the ball to tackle I was instead looking up at Mt Rainier on the horizon. Ballard HS is also where Deborah Vance (aka Jean Smart) attended. Same location but different building.
This morning out walking, I chanced to look into the eyes of The Void, and The Void looked back at me. And now, yea verily, I have known The Void, and am in turn known by It.
Swirling sunset skies, sea stacks and Vancouver Island in the distance, seen from Cape Alava, WA. #photography
Caught this view of Seattle from the window of a plane taking the roundabout way into Seatac about a week ago. This place is magical. #photography
Well, my bil is English and coaches soccer for a living. But despite having watched games with him & his mates and listening to what they’re seeing and having read this pretty good book, I still can’t really tell you what formation a team is playing, or what’s a foul and what’s just a good tackle.
Tide's out Thursday. Nice to get back near water after being away for a week followed by bad weather and then just general tiredness keeping me inside in the mornings.
This is a cat check point. Relinquish your most recent cat picture on your phone. This is Jennie, a long term(years) foster at my Mom's house. And this is how Jennie looks at me when I have the gall to walk around the house I grew up in.
I once thought Matt was smart, b/c he talked about things I'm dumb about. But PE upended my life once (and is about to again), so I learned that PE doesn't care if their companies are profitable. I get it's counterintuitive, so read Bad Company to understand why. Great book. This but Matt & econ.
I'm solo this week so last night I biked down to the beach after dinner so I could be among people without having to interact with people. The breeze from the south was a little chilly and it carried with it the occasional stinky odor of the sea lions currently residing down by the boat launch.
Stuck the action cam on the ground and set the timer to take a quick selfie and by total chance put it in the right spot to get a kind-of setting sunstar thru the bike frame last Saturday evening. I'm sitting there annoyed I forgot to pack the camp chair so I have to sit on the ground. #photography
Car privileg is just a breathtaking thing to behold. The total lack of self-awarenes. took a stan a fixing his closing statement.
Had glorious weather on Saturday and went for a bike ride on a bit of the Interurban trail before looping back to our favorite nice day brewery and then biking home a little bit tipsy.
post the best picture you have ever taken of your pet (if you feel like it): Pt 2 My favorite picture of Derwyn that I myself took, among many. After Derwyn died, my Mom's best friend surprised me with a painting commemorating this(next post)
