In an era where one of my biggest complaints was that characters' inner flaws often felt nonsensical or more like thinly-veiled strengths ("Oh he/she is too stubborn/reckless!"), Whitley and friggin' Gurihiru gave us an undiagnosed bipolar teenage genius having an issues-long crashout.
And it's not like it came outta nowhere, it didn't just get dark all of a sudden, there was a whole-ass arc about pookie slowly falling apart until she spent a whole ish locked in a room visibly losing her mind with each passing panel. Shit was harrowing and awesome.
When you're sent to murder your renegade ninja half sister but she's both way stronger than you AND an insufferable cringelord who hasn't updated her memes since 2014:
lmao I know what you mean. Searching "Dead or Alive" is always tricky at the best of times but for the past week or so... Anyway, here's some more!
Plenty pleased with my Kasumi Revoltech figure. Loved this design ever since seeing it in Dead or Alive 5 and the stuff added in Ninja Gaiden 3 only made it better. The figure is also really solid, well worth it, although the cape is hilariously overengineered. Could've been wired fabric, really.
Andaba con ganas de ver un poco de cine nacional y puse algo jodón y divertido para alegrar el domingo, ¿vio? En fin, PRISIONEROS DE LA TIERRA (1939) es tremenda.
Animations make throws great for me. Strikes are cool but are limited by the canned hit animations from the opponent. But throws (and holds in DOA) is where you can *really* see the mocap/animation teams shine. Virtua Fighter has so many good ones too!
It's been a weird week for crossover announcements. But I think what stands out to me is how you can quickly tell which property has had a bunch of logo redesigns in recent history and which one just hasn't.
I love everything about this! Great idea, and the execution looks fantastic. All the details on the fuselage do a lot to make it feel even more real too. Lovely, lovely stuff.
Same. Despite everything, I think I'm still gonna try to platinum this because dammit, it still feels good to give someone the snek hands...
Just remind him that yes, Dredd is a bad guy, but he shouldn't under any circumstance say that out loud.
Christie is a good time. Nice reach, nice sneaky lows, and easy kick combos for when you get an opponent launched. I used her to get the 50 wins/100 fights trophies in vanilla DOA6 and by jove I'll do it again.
Apparently, yes, as six inch figures. Same logo and all. What a time to be alive.
And it's extra annoying because this is the same strategy they did with Ninja Gaiden: here's an announcement for the next game in the series, and here's a shiny re-release of an old game to tide people over. They had a solid model to follow and somehow botched the fuck out of it.
The thing that kills me is that all this is completely unnecessary. They could've just reduced all of these to single packs with all the costumes, like DOA5 did. Hell, they could've been really cool and turned DOA6LR into a complete package with all DLC so far already in there. Instead... this.
REMAKE GHOST SWEEPER MIKAMI is a message that echoes deep into my soul. My only question is whether to keep it a period piece and go even harder on the 80s bodycon weirdness, or give us a Mikami for the 2026 gig economy.
