Goodness me. Our wonderful dog sitter died suddenly at new year and I’ve just had a text saying his partner has just died. Our old dog slept in her bed when we were away, despite being banned from ours! Here’s a blurry photo she sent me. She’s out of pain now, but wow, life can be cruel.
The most positive thing I can say about Vegas is that it’s, ‘an experience.’ But breakfast is none too shabby.
Love it round there. We last went in 2021. Mainly walking and fossil hunting on the beaches. Good fish and chips! Not too far for the donkey sanctuary - that’s a great day out.
How lovely! We had a nest of tree bumble bees which were very pretty, but had to have them relocated on Monday (nest on the side of a Wendy house).
Tried cassava as a replacement for butternut squash in a veggie Thai curry. Son just described dinner as a ‘process of moving from denial to acceptance.’
I think they’re going to have to go - too dangerous a spot. Little great niece and nephew might accidentally whack with a ball. Found a company that says they will relocate rather than destroy. On my admin list. #TreeBumbleBees
Once the Chelsea flower show is over, I’d highly recommend a visit to the Chelsea Physic Garden. It’s a beautiful little oasis, particularly if you like the history of medicine.
I had so many, ‘oh, so that’s why…’ moments reading this book. Highly recommended, if unsettling.
Buongiorno from Rome. A walk to the Vatican City today. Avoiding yesterday’s attempted pickpocketing tactics: 1. ‘Your lace is undone!’ 2. Slam the emergency stop on the metro escalators as a distraction tactic. Now we understand why the taxi drivers and waitresses keep warning us!
Being in Rome on Easter Sunday is a bit magical and I don’t have a religious bone in my body.
Not far off! My knee has ballooned (chronic MCL sprain). Worth it. Lovely to spend time on my own with our 23 year old. He absolutely stepped up by cooking and cleaning last month whilst I was occupied elsewhere (close relative with sepsis). We both needed the decompression!
Six hours walking around London Zoo in the rain today. I’m wonderfully broken and seem to have lost all my structural integrity! #EDS
Hiya. Vodka didn’t work at all! Now trying a vitamin C paste experiment.
I swear these transcriptions are trying to get me sacked. Line by line checking here, before I even think about sending them on.
Whilst I am feeling very fed up with checking an amending hours and hours of transcription, I think this is a bit far. It should say ‘bear with me.’
I am very much yearning for another dog. It’s been 18 months since our 19 year old rescue was euthanised. A big decision, and not to be taken lightly.
Still editing transcripts for my screencasts. Rest assured that I am not teaching my students the dark arts.
The things you find when you’re forced to rearrange your kitchen cupboards. Sugar from Aeroflot circa 1982 (school trip to USSR).
You know it’s Christmas when the garden fridge comes out. Don’t worry, it’s only for pickles/ketchup, nothing that’ll poison us.
Morning! One of those days today. Left my house in Crocs (realised before I got to Tai Chi) and car had been stuck on this for half an hour (drove anyway). P.S. Don’t buy an Audi, their management systems are dire.
