Also, I don't know who needs to hear this, but getting too close to them is really dumb. And more than a few people have gotten close enough to touch them. I told one that I was going to record it and put it on Reddit if it attacked. They left quickly 😂

Went to the Lavender festival yesterday. I was a little leery about the lavender ice cream, but I had it with concentrated lavender syrup, and it has to be one of my favourites.

I remember seeing something about this, but it's a nice addition by Spotify to help protect against AI music and fake profiles.

Sadly, nothing that nice haha.

"If you came to offer condolences, save your breath," I reply, my voice flat. "We aren't friends. We never will be."

"No, we aren't," he agrees, stepping forward. Naomi moves instantly, clearing her holster, but Vincent merely raises a gloved hand, unfazed. "But we are business partners. Or, at least, we used to be. Before you decided to play J. Edgar Hoover at the gala."

He drops the cigarette and crushes it beneath the heel of his Italian leather shoe. The casual arrogance of the gesture makes my jaw tighten.

"I told you what would happen if you didn't fall into line," I say. "The Montreal lines. The offshore accounts. I have the keys to your entire kingdom. One phone call to the federal authorities, and the Moretti family spends the next decade asset-stripped and fighting indictments."

Vincent lets out a low, mocking laugh. It echoes off the concrete walls. He takes another step closer, his eyes darkening with a vicious, sudden intensity.

"You think you're the only one who can dig, Donessa?" he sneers, the title dripping with condescension. "You think a few tax records give you leverage over me? Go ahead. Make the call. Leak the files. By the time the RCMP even assigns a task force, the Roundtable vote will be over. You’ll be stripped of your title, Alessandro will have divided your territory among the rest of us, and you'll be a civilian. And do you know what happens to a Morin civilian who cost the Morettis hundreds of millions of dollars?"

He leans in, his breath hot against the cold air of the garage.

"You die, Sophina. Unspectacularly. In a ditch or a closet. Just like your brother. So don't threaten me with a fire you'll burn in first."

I have found a new place to work. It's quiet, but that's not the best part. The city shoreline is just behind me, and so is the dog park! There's also a family of vultures 😍

One of the biggest issues I've run into with my psychoacoustic experiments is getting a full picture of the sounds I'm working with for quick, easy comparison. So, I made a tool to make it easier.

I'm not really a foodie, so it's always a little odd to me that I've landed in the top 5% of restaurant reviewers. I just like small businesses, and also like to keep track of the places I try. It's a spouse replacement. I don't have to say, "Do you remember that X we tried last year?" 😂
