I’m so glad we elected a non-interventionist president.

Trump declared the U.S. henceforth will be
"THE GUARDIAN OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT," and U.S. Central Command said the reimposed blockade will start to be enforced later today.
Meanwhile, Iranian hard-liners escalated their threats and demands for revenge over Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's killing. Tehran's attacks today went after U.S. military assets in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait and Oman. "We will not, under any circumstances, allow the United States to interfere in the management of the Strait of Hormuz," an Iranian military official warned today.

We’re going to be living (or in some cases dying) with DOGE fallout for years.

DOGE actually ate its 250 homework. In nearly every state and territory across the country, the official humanities nonprofits created by congressional mandate had to scale back or abandon their 250th celebration planning when DOGE pulled their federal funding, NOTUS' Anna Kramer reports. The result has been significantly more minor plans for the nation's birthday at the local level. Anna has a look at what could have been, and what is no longer happening.
The twist: Congress actually replaced the funding for these nonprofits that got DOGE'd. But as of June, the administration has only given states less than half of what Congress appropriated - and told them not to expect the rest, humanities council leaders said.

The actual "birthright" belongs to my children, and the children of all real Americans. They have a birthright to live in a country that resembles the one our ancestors established. And now that birthright, the only true birthright, has been destroyed in favor of the imagined "birthright" of children born to parents who don't even belong in this country and who have no ancestral or cultural ties to it whatsoever. I at least got to live for 40 years in a country that looks and functions something like America. The fact that my children are having that opportunity stolen from them fills me with rage so deep I can't describe it. I truly hate the people who have done this to us.

From an electoral politics POV this seems disastrous. The GOP has to eat the optics of giving Iran $325B in midterm year, but Iran doesn’t actually get the $$ so has an excuse to delay a final agreement and not meet any of its very minimal commitments, which Ds can also hang around GOP necks.

Iran hawks are incensed that the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding gives too much to Tehran in their view - particularly via a $300 billion "reconstruction" fund. But even as the U.S. takes its first steps to implement the deal, veterans of U.S. diplomacy in the region predict that the pot of money and other points in the document will never come to fruition. And that could mean the "final agreement" set out by the MOU may be pushed off indefinitely.
"There's a very good chance this MOU is as good as it gets for both sides and the specific implementation of various parts of it are long-delayed if not simply ignored in the future," said
DOUGLAS SILLIMAN, who served as U.S. ambassador to Kuwait from 2014-2016 and Iraq from 2016-2019.
