Case in point. The use of the word "fetish" is important here. Fetishes are still very stigmatized. The implication is that the filmmakers are dragging the audience into perversions without their consent. That's not film critique. That's puritanical ugliness.

*infomercial voice* Despite my highly curated feed, I get into "roiling, exciting conversations" all the time. "How?" you ask. ADHD! That's right, folks, for the low, low cost of never having a clean house, you too can lack impulse control and get into arguments you regret 3-12 hours later!

From an account that's be cut out of the screenshot: from what i see, most here don't want the friction that produces the roiling, exciting conversations we used to get on Twitter. that's fine. Facebook was nice, too, when it was just posting photos for friends and the occasional convo in the comments. but then the contrasts become more apparent.

I don't get the foot thing. I don't get why feet would do...anything for anyone. Maybe I'm too country? Maybe I've seen true warts-and-blisters-caked-in-mud foot horrors and others haven't. Maybe it's because I'm surrounded by people with stank feet. But I do not get it.

I'm working on a novel and St. Patrick's Day plays a key role in it. I wanted to see some bar decoration ideas for a scene. Found this flawless specimen. Checkmate, AI haters.

An AI generated bar with lots of balloons and bottles (most of which either have labels that defy logic or defy logic themselves), but the best part is the banner hung high in the center of the scene. Studded with a few clovers, it reads, "Hap Papy Day Spatnick's Day."

Listen, I'm opposed to the existence of all the live-action Disney remakes. They're artless cash grabs. But my beef here is specific. They could've found another Pacific Islander actor to play Maui who was a Big Man and not in the "I'm simply very muscular way" that The Rock is. Hire fat actors!

We don't have a dish washer anymore, so when I look at dishes, I often think about what cleaning them by hand would be like (yes, I am weird), which means my eye straight up twitches every time I see people using these fuckers.

A glass shaped like a can, so the rim of it curves inward slightly, which means that, if you tried to wash it by hand, your hand would get stuck in there, like a Chinese finger trap but more annoying and more fragile.

I was at a shitty crustpunk bar once getting an afterwork beer. One of those shitholes where the bartenders clearly hate you. So the bartender and I were ignoring one another and someone sits next to me and he immediately says, "no. get out."

And the dude next to me says, "hey i'm not doing anything, i'm a paying customer." and the bartender reaches under the counter for a bat or something and says, "out. now." and the dude leaves, kind of yelling. And he was dressed in a punk uniform, I noticed.

Anyway, I asked what that was about and the bartender was like, "you didn't see his vest but it was all nazi shit. Iron crosses and stuff. You get to recognize them."

And i was like, ohok and he continues.

"you have to nip it in the bud immediately. These guys come in and it's always a nice, polite one. And you serve them because you don't want to create a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.

And then THEY bring friends and the friends bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh shit, this is a Nazi bar now. And it's too late because they're entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.

And i was like, 'oh damn.' and he said "yeah, you have to ignore their reasonable arguments because their end goal is to be terrible, awful people."

And then he went back to ignoring me. But I haven't forgotten that at all.

Some of you are following this fuckhead, and you should be aware that he is a fuckhead. Campus protestors who fought against the genocide in Gaza are *still* dealing with the repercussions of their universities violently turning on them.

@editorialboard.bsky.social: That we are not seeing massive campus protests like the ones we saw two years ago suggests a level of bad faith in many of those protests. The goal for many participants was not protecting human rights, but smearing Democratic leader.

From what I've learned, folks aren't able to afford their animals, so they're surrendering them more often. Others can't afford spaying/neutering, so too many animals are having litters that then have to be surrendered. Feels like she's not actually talking about dogs here...

I don't watch the podcast. I learned about all of this on here from accounts I trust. I didn't go digging into this podcast personally until right now, and it's not cute, what I'm finding. He's an "America First" asshole too. That's another white supremacist dogwhistle.
