This is the year I start playing every card game I want. Force of Will? Booster boxes ordered. Union arena? Starter decks inbound. Gundam? One piece? Funk it why not. I want into palworld but if scalpers are going to ruin it I’ll just move. If MTG won’t make magic cards, it’s time to move.

The force of will card, “absolute cake zone.” It is a wind card costing 1 will that counters a spell and lets you draw a card if you control a Hansel or Gretel. The image is two anime figures in aristocratic clothing creating a floating wall of cookies.

Palworld delivers on the dream many of us have had since we were kids. It really isn’t a shocker to see it be so successful; they made a game people wanted and turns out, people wanted it. It highlights what’s important in a game. Irreverent yet full of charm. Not innovative but fun. 1.0 is a GoTY.

I love the Fabula Ultima GM screen a lot! Never been a screen person, but this one is adorably A5 sized, very well formatted, and the art on the front is 1. Entirely unique to the screen and 2. Gorgeous. Love the added tables in the booklet as well!

Finally got my curated collection of emulated titles at a “1.0” release. All scraped with videos, ratings, release dates, box art, manuals, etc. several fan mods and titles specific tinkering. Love being able to take my kids to any part of the past and enjoy it together! Steam deck remains a 10/10.

I beat Dig! Dig! Dino! What an incredible game. Hard to compare but basically a game about digging up dinosaur bones with 3 levels that progressively add more mechanics and more power ups to buy. Only gripe is finding the last bone you need can be a little frustrating. The ending was a fun twist!

The “play more indie games” discourse is going. And you should play more of them! So here’s the single best game I’ve played this year that I’ve seen NO ONE recommend or talk about. Easily the best monster tamer game, soundtrack is fire, designs are inspired. More people should play beastieball!
