Who will I see at #gencon NEXT WEEK??!! LOOK AT ME GOING TO AN *EVENT*!!!
We went to the fair. Probably have food poisoning. Got caught in an epic squall that nearly took down tent we were in But there were great animals and I got to watch young kids actually doing hard work taking care of said animals and didn't realize what a rarity that's become. Anyway here's a goat
MY CHAINSAW ON A STICK ARRIVED. IT'S EVERYTHING I WANTED... AND SO MUCH MORE 🌱
Grew a bunch of French hollyhocks from seed this year for the first time and they are bloooooming 🌱
There continues to be no better dog toy in the universe than a piece of cardboard
The library has a "free books!" shelf at the public market that always has a nice grab bag of stuff. I've started to really enjoy browsing this shelf, as I inevitably find some gems I'd never have encountered otherwise
Looks like a FOURTH groundhog has moved in. I have already caught two and the dogs have gotten one. I have filled this in twice with rocks and as you can see, put a flagstone over the OTHER area I'd refilled. Putting out the trap again tomorrow with a banana lure.
Very pleased with how this hollyhock turned out. I bought two and planted the other near the house, and it's practically fried. I may move it here 🌱. More water near the fountain, and it has protection from worst of afternoon sun, as it faces southeast
Had a nice little dinner and writing sesh at a new to me Dayton food hall/bar with some nice PNW vibes. Dayton has changed a lot since I've lived here. Hipsters can actually afford to start funky businesses; lots more old Portland and old Austin feels these days
It's handwritten postcards to bookstores & libraries time!! I haven't done these since Broken Heavens in 2020. Does this "work"? Who can say! But it's cheap, low effort, and I did hear from booksellers and librarians who ordered the book after getting the card. Direct mail is so rare it stands out
My hollyhocks all get fungal rust that slowly eats them from the bottom up, but NOT before they flower and seed. I'll take it. 🌱
No one wants to admit this, but it's TRUE. If you want to actually have savings and go on vacation once a year (NOT on a credit card), and have no debt, and an emergency fund ready for a job layoff, yes: this is what it takes.
AHHHHH YOU LOVE TO SEE IT!!!!! (it's been awhile since I felt like a Real Writer, fam, despite... constantly writing. I was looking through old drafts of this book from 2019 and what long century the last 10 years have been)
Went out to dinner tonight and saw these lovely garden beds. Really like this composition
This birb has some opinions about what it's like being a newly fledged adult whose mother should really be feeding them rn... what do you mean I need to feed MYSELF now?? Same, birb. Same.
