all around nice guy living in Kansas. Lots of interests: cooking/baking, books, history, Studio Ghibli movies, museums and zoos.
two special ladies at the Topeka Zoo. The first four photos of our Lesser Madagascar Hedgehog, which isn't a hedgehog, it is a Tenrec. She is a little thing, about 6 inches long.
a quiet 4th of July for me, I was tired and didn't do much. I did get ambitious enough to make some Danish pastries from dough I had made earlier in the week. Very tasty too and I shared with friends and neighbors.
a gorgeous day, so went to the zoo for a walk. our Sumatran tigress, Nisha, was outside getting some sun and perched on top of this stump in her enclosure. all the years I've been visiting and volunteering here, this is the first time I've seen her on this stump.
I am a docent at the Topeka Zoo and we had our quarterly docent dinner, where dinner is provided to us, but we all bring a dessert. I took 3 dozen of my homemade apricot Danish pastries, all were eaten, some folks even wrapping them up to take home with them. they were very tasty.
Today I backed some very tasty snack treats, kind of a savory cookie made with lots of sharp cheddar cheese and lots of crisp crumbled bacon. These things are addictive. I got the recipe from Southern Living. www.southernliving.com/cheese-bacon...
