As if the whole world were a plaything to be toyed with and discarded, then picked up again and shaken and prodded.”

“Specifically, the water is more or less the color of a sour apple Jolly Rancher now. It looks like they're brewing Yodas in there. It is so uncannily green and visibly slimy that it feels inevitable that video will soon surface of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. splashing around in it with jeans on. It looks like the aftermath of Boston Tea Party-style political action involving matcha. Parks service employees have been busy dredging and raking algae from the bottom; on Tuesday, they were seen dumping jugs of 12 percent hydrogen peroxide solution into the pool. Per a coworker who was at the reflecting pool earlier today, the water still remains the color of Slimer, from Ghostbusters.”

As a lifelong germophobe since I was three, let me say this plainly for Y'all, I do not accept titty money. I do not want ditty money. I do not want change from titty money. I do not want to be in the same zip code as a dollar bill that has spent the afternoon marinating under somebody's left breast like a pork chop in a Ziploc bag.

And yes, I understand and deeply respect the tradition. My great-grandmother, Nana, had big titties. Not breasts. Not bosoms. Titties. Big, majestic, government-issued, front-porch-sitting titties. Titties that could rest on her thighs and calm a crying baby without a pacifier, a bottle, or a lullaby. Those were not body parts. They were institutions.”

Received by my 89 year old mother while she was in the hospital for heart failure and trying to navigate healthcare coverage. Fuck these shameless grifters and the golden calf they rode in on.

Unable to work and without regular access to these life-saving meds, he made his way to Brazil where he lived and worked while receiving free medical care for the rest of his life, ultimately dying from an AIDS-related illness that exacerbated treatment for a traffic accident. 2/3

On this World AIDS Day I think of my brother and how science saved his life. First diagnosed with AIDS in the mid-90s, he was almost dead within a few years. But getting involved with the Ryan White Foundation gave him access to clinical trials and the medication that could keep him alive. 1/3
