Nettie Marie Stevens was an American geneticist ( July 7, 1861 – May 4, 1912) who discovered sex chromosomes of X and Y sex chromosomes. She observed that male mealworms produced 2 different kinds of sperm. Thanks to her discovery, we now have a better understanding of how gender happens and sex.
