Book lover, food lover, wine lover but also partial to a good g&t, pedant, cynic. Personal account - mostly lighthearted, occasionally serious.
That’s gorgeous. We had silver and pewter shades on Lough Foyle last night to compliment your golden hues
Didn’t get any eclipse photos (although we did see it) but the light over Lough Foyle was magic this evening
A really lovely book exploring a woman’s grief. Absolutely gorgeous descriptions of nature and of finding joy in small things. Ends with a real sense of hope and happiness too. Can’t find the author on Bluesky but published by @lilliputpress.bsky.social #booksky #speirgorm
More likely a forest fire zone. Too hot for me and too far from the sea.
When your book matches the landscape you are reading it in. #speirgorm #booksky

These two posts juxtaposed on my timeline. Make of it what you will.
Where else would I spend an idle hour in St Malo but in a café classé hystérique?
These seats outside the chateau in Caen look like the opposite of hostile architecture
This was a hard book to read in several ways. Enjoyed feels like the wrong verb as it dealt with abuse and homelessness but it was unputdownable. #speirgorm #booksky
Do they have to be uk signs? I can’t find my own pic of this sign so have to share a screenshot from google. I think the small blue sign at the bottom is a new addition since I was there in 2000.
Halloumi, olive, watermelon, tomato and cucumber salad. Sweet, salty, juicy, crunchy, delicious (and a little bit squeaky). #speirgorm
And I realise this makes me sound like an old crone but why are we being asked to wear negligées as dresses now?
Pretty sure the uniform I wore when I worked as a nurses’ aide looked just like this.
I’m sure being able to eat “silly crisps” in the Hoxton next door will be a great consolation to music fans.
