Because the oldest outrigger canoe race takes place every July 4 in Waikiki, and I am generally there, I present you with my annual photo of the iconic and unforgettable Diamond Head (Lē‘ahi).

The shoreline in the foreground transitions into ocean. In the background, one can see multistory hotel and condo buildings and, beyond them, the iconic outline of Diamond Head, against a blue sky with a few patchy clouds. People wade and swim in the water. To the far left one can see an outrigger canoe. Likely the others are out on the course, not within the frame of the shot.

One shelf contains the fourteen hardcover editions 1 - 14 of Kentaro Miura's Berserk and at the farthest right, the omnibus volume of Ursula Vernon's Digger. I personally rather enjoy standing on my driveway watching aerials go off everywhere (while mindful of last year's horrible tragedy) but otoh this was my dog at midnight, under the bed (where he normally never goes):

Moose and menorah are here on Hannukah Day 8 to share the brightest light on this coincidentally darkest night of the year.

on a windowsill sits the most beloved stuffed blue moose with eight gold antlers lit and beside Moose stands a menorah with the shamash and all eight candles lit and burning and the reflection of all nine candles in the window, the spelling a little bit of the darkness outside.

On day seven of Hanukkah seven candles are lit as well as the shamash. A menorah with 7+1 multicolored burning candles sits on a windowsill, it is night outside. A blue stuffed moose with a goofy and deeply endearing expression is seated next to the menorah, with seven of his eight golden tines lit.

Also there is a small plate filled with matches because the matches I'm using don't strike well and I've taken many each night before one actually lights

to the left our beloved blue Hanukkah moose with four of it's a antlers a light with a golden glow. To the right a menorah with four lit candles and a lit Shamash, and if you look at the flames you can see that it's blowy outside which is affecting inside because the windows are open.

Day two of Hanukkah, so there are three candles burning, the shamash and two candles for the first two days. The menorah is a simple one with a slightly higher branch in the middle and four on either side made of silver. Moose is also there with two of the eight antler tines lit. moose is stuffed and mostly blue although the antlers are yellow
